Mid season releases will haunt WT

What is the justification for letting two players leave mid season, particularly when:
1) Injuries are crippling the club at the present time
2) BMM and Mr T were able to make positive contributions at NRL if they'd be retained;
3) The players left behind will never thrive at NRL level

Its mean to pick out individuals but Buchanan and Patterson really struggle. They lack impact with the ball in hand and are especially slow moving in defence. At 24-0 last night its particularly troubling to think that a damaging run from Naiyaravaro or BMM could have sparked the side.

I accept these guys were rocks or diamonds players but one run or one hit can change a game.

There is no justification for letting guys go mid season unless you plan to replace them before 30 June.

Am I missing something here?

PS Korobete scored 2 tries today in NSW Cup and I remain convinced a place should be found for him. Lulia is inferior to him and is on borrowed time in top grade

Did Mr T ever play NRL?

He was behind at least Nofo, Richards and Koro, and I would suggest his chances of playing NRL this year were slim.

Sometimes it's just the right thing to let a young guy go when he gets an opportunity elsewhere.

Nice dramatic headline. Pfft. Their release wont hurt us.
What you are missing is that players arent simply let go for no reason.
There could be so many reasons, most of which the fans are never privy to.

T was never going to play firsts.
BMM I suggest was cap management and also surplus to needs.

Big T was inevitably going to play first grade it was just a matter of time, however, injury struck the Waratahs and they threw relatively big money at him, he seeked a release from the tigers to take the money return to the game he loved as a kid and support his young family.
BMM was unfortunately out of favour and was being offered around, Panthers took the offer, to be honest can't understand why he was let go, but I think it will be beneficial towards his career

There is basically one reason why players are let go and that is Potter doesn't rate them.
Groat BMM Koro Mr T have been stamped...Never to play 1st grade again. How do we get rid of them ? Never promote them..have them get the shits and ask for a release.

The reason...To sign Santi lol

Taqele always wanted to play Rugby Union again, he is quoted saying so when he signed with the Waratah's. He wasn't going to play first grade sadly, his defence, like Marika's is shocking. Both rush up and want to get involved when they should hold on the wing.

Ben Murdoch-Masila COULD be another Andrew Fifita. BMM always has had an attitude problem it seems. He has been given opportunities in first grade and never truly stepped up week in, week out. He has showed patches of form, and did so for Penrith in his first match in NSW Cup. He ran over 5 Knights players over 20 metres to score.

BMM could be a loss. I think he is a much better option than Buchanan at this point. I also think its obvious that you need players that can provide impact and BMM can do that.

Still you can't keep everyone.

BMM was just lazy, won't do the hard work and drop the fat.
His fitness was his downfall and we were plenty patient with his development but he didn't work out.

The headline had me thinking it was a Rothfield article.

T more than likely, given his frame and pedigree was always going to get a bigger offer than we were willing to match, to play Union.

BMM was on big coin for a NSW Cup player I'd imagine, and he wants to play first grade (and he should be)

With the depth we have in the front row, he was always going to struggle to find a spot here.

T hasnt played firsts, so so gives a crap and is behind a stack of youngies.
BMM has been with us for what five seasons? Showed promise early but never (EVER) kicked on
Koro, really, this kid has feet for hands. He runs hard and straight when he has the ball, but has to catch it first.

I'm 110% happy with our fully fit first grade squad and Im 80% happy with our depth players.

If we are clearing the decks to:

1. Sign a big center, or
2. Upgrade existing contracts

I'm happy.

Hell, Im happy even if we are just clearing the average to put some coin in the bank.

Watch this same thread go out when we release Rowe, who will be behind Teddy for the next 10+ years. Seriously, depth players are depth players - and rarely if ever do they come back to bite anyone.

Sharks are half full of Tigers depth players - lets see how they bite us next week....

Having to squeeze out some of our best players due to salary cap limitations is what haunts WT.

Getting rid of players who want to leave or are unlikely to play regular FG (except through massive injury) is a necessity.

Now for a serious question, does anyone know how to change their avatar??? I've tried like 6 times and it just loads and takes me to a blank screen....
