I disagree with him not including Brett Kirk but other than that the list isnt too bad.

I rate Sewell but 26th in the comp..I don't think so. Brett Kirk should have been there for starters and how Gibbs is ahead of David Hille for starters I'll never know. Gibbs would be LUCKY to be the 4th or 5th most important for the Blues..and he gets 50th..

if those were the odds and I was a betting man, Joel Selwood looks good value at 27

Sheahan obviously didnt watch the NAB Cup Final

Selwood is about right imo, I may have had him in the low 20's but 27 is about right. He is not a top 10 in the comp yet, as lets be frank here he plays 3rd fiddle to Bartel and Ablett. Until he gets the no1 tag, I can't have him in the top 10-15.

Kirk has had Sewell covered up until now, but we've seen the best of the former, and the latter is just starting to motor.

Deledio, Pendelbury & Petrie are the only three players below him on that list that I could see covering him by the end of 2009, assuming all players stay fit across the year.

Again, it is where they will be at the end of 2009.

That said, Hille should definitely have been in there.

Ablett adn Bartel played second and third fiddle to Selwood in the NAB cup final and he was only 18 last year

I dont think he has taken into account the fact that players dont stagnate at that age, this is 2009 not 2008.

which makes him 20 now and 19 at the start of last season prior to May

I knew he was still a teenager last year

It is the pre-season comp..Selwood was not tagged in that game- Ablett, Bartel and Corey were at times. That is my point. He may be in the top 20, but only just. We are yet to see him play under a heavy tag. Plus it was the NAB cup

I find these types of lists completely useless and irrelevant. First of all, how can you compare midfielders, defenders and forwards? They are different types of players and each possess different skills. Secondly, being a good player is all about how well you fulfill your role for the team, and from an outsiders point of view looking in this is very difficult to judge. Lastly, what makes a player's performance good? The Brownlow? Best and Fairests? There is an already massive amount of debate on this, let alone being able to rank players in order of how they will play. The list is too broad; what separates player number 16 from 17?

All in all sometimes fun to look at but there is just too much subjectivity involved for it to be anything worthwhile.
