There is way too much sentiment in the NRL, clubs are too scared to give veteran players the tap on the shoulder because they were good once upon a time. Guys like Mini, Hornby, Tuqiri, etc were all decent in their day but are now just tarnishing their careers by playing on too long. The media beat it up when these guys are dropped because idiots like Slothfield only care about the reputation of the players rather than form. How much crap did Kearney cop when he rightfully dumped the god awful Luke Burt.......
The club should always be bigger than any one player

I dont know what he is getting paid these days, nor what his contract situation is. But if the roosters are paying him close to what he was getting at his peak, then sorry to say, he will never leave - i mean if they keep offering good money why would he?

I dont think a tap on the shoulder is necessary. Just pay him what he is worth - and at the moment I would say not much. Then you will see that he will move on pretty quickly, or at least stay on and not burden the clubs salary cap. Its all about providing value for the club.

Poor Mini..

He is one of my favourite Roosters, but it is blatantly obvious that he is deteriorating at a rapid rate..

His best form is now 7 years & 2 major injuries ago..

It is sad to see him embarrassing himself out there..

Steve Simpson is an example of a club legend who's ability quickly deteriorated through injuries and age as he neared 30 and on his own accord called it quits. Have to admire him for that.

I think it's a miracle he's even back playing to this day. He pretty much broke his back and was out for the best part of 3 years together with the twisted ankle. He's took a beating and still hanging in there with some decent performances on occasion.

Gotta give him credit for his effort and spirit, sadly his execution just isn't there anymore. Watching that video reminds me how quick he used to be.

I dunno, I think the culture is shifting a bit towards emphasis on youth a bit much. For every player like that there's a player shifted on too early.

Come on mate. Its not as bad as a stock market crash, a bad batch of Grange, or slow delivery of a new Lexus. Im sure you socialites will cope. Sip another Latte and look on the bright side - you are doing better than Gus!

I don't have any shares, have never drunk wine valued at more than $70 (restaurant price, not bottle shop), drive a Mazda (more often catch a bus or train) and wouldn't know one blonde media whore from another - so what the f**k do I do?

PS I drink flat whites with a triple shot and wish Gus all the good fortune in the World.

(If you answer "support Parramatta" at least you'll make me laugh).

Shame to see such a great player become a shadow of his former self.
Perhaps it's time to hang up the boots.
It'll be ok....retirement doesn't seem so bad when you can f**k your incredibly hot wife on top of your huge pile of money.

Mini is one of the most entertaining players in the game today, always consistently provides some good laughs.

That was hilarious.

He actually has tackled like that in the past, I remember him doing it in the early 2000's in his peak. Didn't come off today though.

The way he's headed a visit to Malabar via Bondi Jnctn courthouse will be just around the corner....a rapid decline at a rate of knots, a young man whose life is spiralling out of control.
Its the shoes, all the shoes
