A) Roleclaiming shouldn't be allowed

kinda agree tbh, always a downside of having themed games. Especially when there is a general lack of night information, it invites the situation of roleclaims. What are we supposed to do, just lynchtrain everybody and anybody until they give up their role? See, Dutch has claimed Drew, which is pretty much the only reason I'm against lynching him, because Drew would obviously be a character in the game and someone would have challenged this claim by now if it was false.

yeah, and unless you have a list of all the roles, you can never quite trust it.

I think it just annoys me because it's a cheap way to talk yourself out of a lynch instead of explaining and defending yourself convincingly.

Town can roleclaim honestly and without issue whereas when you're mafia you either can't do it or have to take a big gamble and try to pick someone who won't be a character in the game. Theoretically on Day 1 you could have everyone make a roleclaim and with some themes it'd barely take any phases to work out who's fibbing with their claim.

Everybody could roleclaim day 1. There's rarely a cut and dry certain set of roles. For example here there'd be a few like BM (IMHO) JM Dutchy Drew who are certainties. But then there'd be another 20+ names that might or might not be there.

All the mafia need to do is pick one of those grey area names and it gets suspicion off them unless they're very unlucky and another active player happens to also be one of those grey area roles. For all we know they've already done that.

So in that sense it's largely pointless.

And on the other hand, when it does work perfectly well it takes a lot of the mystery and fun out of the game.
