Misi Taulapapa - the biggest grub of them all

It's funny that Raiders fans are blowing up over this.

It was only just a few years ago that the tactic of attacking players without the ball running in to knock defenders out of tackles was deliberately executed by the Raiders. Clinton Schifcofske and Adam Mogg were specialists at it.

I can't remember which year, but it went on for a few weeks before the NRL stepped in and declared that attacking players without the ball could only push or support the ball carrier and not interfere with defenders.

I remember that, but you've got it wrong, the tactic was started by us, it involved our players getting behind the ball carrier with 2-3 people and pushing him forward beyond the advantage line, never did we practise taking tacklers out of the tackle, essentially we were pushing forward like a rolling maul in union...

Nothing at all like what Misi did.

The problem was that our guys, as I highlighted in my last post, weren't always only pushing the ball carrier.

I dont recall at any point our players running in and driving a shoulder into the exposed back of a defender... but perhaps my memory is a little hazey :roll:

I can tell you right now. Zero. That's how many times an attacking player without the ball will tackle a tackler.



Sure. But when they do that, they come into contact with their own player, not a defender.



Didn't affect the game? He had to go off and didn't come back! He's an 80 minute player and makes a thousand tackles. How didn't it effect the game? Add to that the fact that we were within 6 points at the time it happened. Didn't affect the game, what a dimwitted thing to say. It was a major turning point!

sure it was, your team attacking 10 meters out from the penalty that was given and you couldnt score....seems to me that the raiders just werent good enough dribbler.

well you brought up why tongue came in to make a tackle when the topic is about misi being a grub (title of the thread), so whether tongue needed to come in and make the tackle or not doesnt matter. even if tongue was making an unnecessary tackle, so what? he didnt hurt anybody, unlike misi, so that why I posted that it had nothing to do with it, except for the fact that tongue was the player he tackled. if ive missed something point it out for me

As an example of it happening all the time, at the 35:40 mark of last night's Origin Cooper comes in and tackles the defender (can't remember who) whilst that player was trying to tackle the Blues player (Quinn I think).

Cooper - the second biggest grub of them all. :lol:
