He apparently had a contract with a clause that if he played one more game he would get a contract extention for 2016 and Mary played him up until his last game before triggering the extension. I thought our winning streak was influenced by Lestrange and Rein sharing the hooking role.

If that's the case, it's again another contract stuff up. If he was the difference between us winning games, then he should have been playing....not sitting out coz of a contract clause.

So we sign players for the sake of signing someone to keep us supporters quiet... with the intention that they really not worth keeping.... Great vision by the club....:?

Didn't Kirk reynoldson end up proceeding with legal action over the same type of contract clause under Brian smith?

I think Heath added good stability and speed out of DH and was key to getting good service to Marshall/Widdop.

For me, rein has always looked like he wouldn't quite reach any great heights as he never seems to do anything consistently, aside from forward passes and running when it's a passing play.

can we bring Priddis back? Fein looks to be fit enough.

I think Rein has been very consistent this year. The last game was one of his worst but even that wasn't too bad. He tackled himself to a standstill.

Of course he has also consistently passed too far behind or in front of the first receiver, on the bounce or over the head of the first receiver or just missed the first receiver period forcing the centre to run back to get the ball.

Apart from that Rein is a really good hooker.

His passing game, poor play choices, lack of a kicking game and his general lack of awareness is what stops him from being a great player. Sure he tackles till his arms just about fall off and he is tough but for such a key position he really needs to be better.

I think he has it in him to be a very good player but after 4 years all he has done is become a regular middle third tackling machine.

When he plays what he sees he can be lethal.

Exsilium ( When he plays what he sees he can be lethal ) Thats been the problem with our play makers the team is too structured so its just not Mitch....They all need to play what they see...

Farah versus Rein ? I think many have jumped at the thought of Farah joining our club and debate has mainly focussed on what would be Robbie's impact on Benji and his alleged negatively. I would argue against Farah and accept Rein as our hooker because Farah is 31, will be missing during Origin time and he has had serious injury issues this year with shoulder and wrist problems keeping him off the field. Rein is durable, tough and really holds our middle together in defence. His passing is a definite issue, but I watched Granville the other night and some of his passing was terrible. As for playing 80 minutes, the days of many forwards playing 80 minutes is virtually over.

Coaching staff need to better train Rein on passing the ball from dummy half.

Our attack in the opposition quarter was pedestrian all season because balls were being passed behind players, at their toes and over their heads too often.

Rein is a tough, durable and very solid defender.

But not a smart one. We need to accept he has his limitations.

The best we can do is teach him to pass the ball in front of his team mates at a desirable height.

I agree with that but its been going on for years now. You really think he can be taught to consistently pass well out of dummy half after all this time he must have been training to do that? I doubt it. Better to get that Robbie Farah homie, for the first 2 years have enemies pay most of his salary and then after 3 years, the club will unearth another young hooker.

I agree two years would be perfect because in that time i expect us to have a real crack and experience would be handy.
