I'm sick of hearing about these Big 3 out of 4 Wankers! Just glad they aren't at our club as they seem to think they run the Tigers club with their over inflated ego's. They need a serious reality check......they're coming last!
Tedesco is the only decent player worth $$$
I agree its about time some of these blokes started putting something back into their clubs and gave something back to the supporters....in all honesty what players are asking now is bloody obscene.....I honestly think that theres not any player worth 1 mill a season...and that goes for Thurston, Cronk, Smith and the likes......they get plenty as it is...and if you add the TPA and appearance money etc its more than enough.....Ive been out to functions and just for social drinks with high profile sports personnel and they rarely have to put their hands in their pockets......in other words they get lots of freebies believe me

Wests Tigers statement on Mitchell Moses
WestTigers.com.au
-
April 5, 2017 - 9:36 pm

Wests Tigers would like to clarify media reports this afternoon around the contract status of Mitchell Moses.

Due to the current uncertainty surrounding the salary cap for 2018 and beyond the Club has decided to prioritise the re-signings of captain Aaron Woods and James Tedesco.

As a result, the current contract offer that was with Moses’ management was taken off the table by Wests Tigers.

After being made aware of this decision Moses’ management requested an immediate release from the remainder of Moses’ current contract; this request was denied by Wests Tigers.

This decision was purely made due to the current uncertainty surrounding the salary cap, with the Club not willing to put itself in a risky position for 2018 and beyond.

The Club informed Moses’ management that it would be willing to revisit negotiations once the 2018 salary cap figure was confirmed.
reading between the lines:

- tigers offered moses contract, he was taking his time testing the water
- cronk now on market, cleary in immediate discussions with him (having cronk for 1 or 2 years would take pressure off cleary)
- moses seen as the more disposable of the two halves, so his offer revoked
- moses cracks shits and wants out immediately
- the 'revisiting of negotiations once salary cap confirmed' is 'if cronk rejects our offer'

we'll see 6. brooks, 7 cronk at tigers next year..

6. moses and 7. norman at eels next year.

either way, i doubt moses will see out the year.

May the good lord help them , if they are ever forced to live on a pension .

How did these blokes at the Tigers become the "Big 4" in the first place? Smith, Slater and Cronk are modern greats of the game and have earned their accolades and whatever titles you want to bestow on them. But how do two average halves, a soft front rower and an admittedly pretty good fullback (with ONE origin game under his belt) end up holding a whole club to ransom? They might all be in for a rude shock, be it at a new club or under Cleary, when they discover they can't have everything their own way.

Jason Taylor on Fox tonight said given the profile of the 4 players in question, and their associated price tags, the expectation from the club was those 4 would lead them to success. That did not happen. So how can they be worth what they're asking. Success is measured by winning is it not?

I'm not a massive fan of Taylor but good on him for saying that. Too much blame goes to head coaches when clubs struggle, but ultimately its up to the players to deliver. And in the West Tigers case, those 4 have delivered nothing.

Even with the Dragons, the same clueless coach is at the helm yet we're running 2nd. Mainly because of an injection of good recruits and our gun players like Widdop and Duges delivering like we expect them too.

With the amount of cash these players are asking for, we really shouldn't expect any less.

Yep thats right...we shouldnt expect anything less than 100% from players whether they win or loose games

Cronk will retire after this yet again stellar year he will have.
No chance he will put what he has achieved in his career on the line for a broken club with big headed overpaid players.
Cronk is the consummate professional and will go out with a fantastic legacy and will not give people the opportunity of saying 1 year too many.

I dont know OT. I wouldnt be surprised if he takes a 2 yr deal at $1 million plus and the chance to ease himself into a media career at the same time.
Cronk will still look good with the backs the tigers have.
And Tedesco would, if he stays, become an even better player with a halfback like cronk in the team.
I wouldnt entirely rule it out just yet.
Only downside is, Cronk wouldve suited Moses inside of him alot more then Brooks.
Time will tell i spose.

Sure it is but he would probably have to live 3 lifetimes to spend what he already has.
Seriously he will make a gazillion out of TV and endorsements so why risk going out on top for a finish with a rag tag team and the chance of an injury playing behind a side that will be beaten more times than it wins.
The Tigpies will have a few dark years ahead of them regardless of Cleary being there as the club is toxic.
Cronk doesn't need any of that shit.

editing error at one of the news sites..

was meant to say "big headed 4"
The funny thing is... everyone sees it that way but a few clubs.
Has been reported Tedesco is being chased by a few clubs, and fair enough he is a good player.
But Brooks getting a million? Moses getting a million?
And now the dogs are reportedly offering woods $900k per year?
Are we all missing something?

brookes is getting $1m over two seasons..

moses is similar from what i understand..

so they are both earning under what we would be paying whiddop.. and under what soward left us for back in 2013..

anyone can earn a million dollars over a long enough timeframe..

the only thing we're missing is cleary..

he's currently in 'family brain' mode, and is a smart bloke.. he'd be looking to maximise earnings where he can..

and if we're worried about legacy or image, lets not forget, wally lewis still has a statue outside suncorp, despite going to play for the seagulls at the twlilight of his career...

Plenty of seagull shit on that statue.
As I said Cronk is the consummate professional in everything he does that was not the case with Wally.
Lewis is a yobo Queenslander, yesterdays man keeping the seat warm for Cronk until next year.

Cronk has only thrown out the "retirement" carrot to up the negotiation stakes.

the only way that guy is not playing next year is if the storm win the comp this year and he decides to go out on a high..

there's too much money at stake, and too many years left in his life not to take full advantage of the opportunity he has in his hands.

Crink will receive $500k a year for the rest of life in media - he will remain a one club player!!
That's a big call..

Who, presently in NRL media is commanding such a salary?

And you do realise the majority of media work is contract based..?
