MOIMOI’S THE BOY FOR WOLVES

Wednesday September 9,2009

By Martin Richards

WARRINGTON Wolves may complete their big recruitment programme for next season with a move for Parramatta prop Fuifui Moimoi.

Kiwi forward Moimoi – famously concussed by a shoulder charge from Great Britain’s Sam Burgess in the 2007 Test series – is out of contract with the Eels at the end of the year.
The Wolves, who this week announced the signings of Richie Myler, Ryan Atkins and David Solomona for 2010, are not expected to retain veteran New Zealand forward Paul Rauhihi and 17-stone Moimoi, who has been outstanding in Parramatta’s late charge to the NRL play-offs, would be an ideal replacement.
The Eels are looking to offload players and Moimoi, linked with Bradford Bulls earlier this season, is reportedly up for grabs.
Wolves utility player Paul Johnson is another likely departure and could be on his to Wakefield, who yesterday signed Huddersfield prop Michael Korkidas on loan for the 2010 season.
Leeds stars Jamie Jones Buchanan and Keith Senior will miss the defending champions’ last match of the regular Super League season at Salford on Friday – where a point would be enough for them to lift the League Leaders’ Shield – after picking up one-match bans.
Jones Buchanan was suspended for a ‘chicken wing’ tackle on St Helens prop James Graham – a technique that places undue pressure on the shoulder joint – while Senior admitted punching Saints’ Jon Wilkin in last Friday’s fiery clash at Headingley. Rhinos prop Kylie Leuluai escaped a ban despite pleading guilty to a high tackle on Graham.
Celtic Crusaders have re-signed Australian forward Adam Peek on a two-year contract and are set to agree new terms with prop Jason Chan and winger Luke Dyer.
Sheffield Eagles centre Tangi Ropati will join Harlequins at the end of the season.

Yeah, true, but I was referring to this:

Moi Moi is contracted until the end of 2010.

Thats not to say he wouldn't be granted a release if he asked for one...but FFS I want him to stay!

I think he'd want to win a premiership with Parramatta and even if we do it this year our side next year is looking AWESOME!!

Oh and HJ I only ever mentioned "Godbraith" in another thread coz I knew you'd bite. :sarcasm:

If it's true then losing Fui, Joe & Wright will leave us very thin up front. Clearly our depth is questionable already. Maybe we will pick up a bunch of fringe players with his cash ?

if we don't want to win the premiership next year then release him

If he goes, there is no difference to this year besides the addition of the Shack as the Mitchells aren't ready yet.

But not to be selfish, if he earns big dollars, then let him go. He can set himself up for the rest of his life as he is not young and his previous contracts were probably small.

i honestly cant see Ossie and DA being silly enough to release Moi Moi - he is such an integral part to our team and i major contributor to our resurgence in the last 2 months.

Losing him and gaining Poore basically cancel each other out so we would be in the same position with forward depth.

If its is Moi Moi who is chasing/seeking the release i would be disappointed, his game and fitness levels have grown significantly under DA and Hayden Knowles - surely he can see a premiership in the offering next year if he stays.

Maybe Ossie and Spagnolo knew this was coming and flying his kid over was part of a sweetner to get him to stay???

There's no dramas. The article is 100% speculation.

For one: ARE the Eels looking to offload players? I've said it 100 times or more, we don't need to - and the same sentiment has come from the mouth of our CEO.

Secondly: IS Fui reportedly up for grabs? According to what source?

It's just pure speculation to make an article.

Better not be true. It would be a massive blow to our premiership campaign for next year. No pack would even come close to dominating the forward players listed below. The relentless roll on would be unstoppable. Our backline will at times feel like they are playing tip footy. No, letting Fui go is NOT an option!!!

10 Moi Moi
9 K Keating
8 Poore
12 Shackleton
11 Hindmarsh
13 Mateo

14 Cayless
15 Manah
16 Smith
17 M Keating

Spag told me himself a few months back that not only is he signed for next year but were looking at extending his deal at the club.

tbh if he ends up leaving than I'd be pretty pissed considering we were told that no player needed to make way for any new signings.
