MOIMOIS THE BOY FOR WOLVES
Wednesday September 9,2009
By Martin Richards
WARRINGTON Wolves may complete their big recruitment programme for next season with a move for Parramatta prop Fuifui Moimoi.
Kiwi forward Moimoi famously concussed by a shoulder charge from Great Britains Sam Burgess in the 2007 Test series is out of contract with the Eels at the end of the year.
The Wolves, who this week announced the signings of Richie Myler, Ryan Atkins and David Solomona for 2010, are not expected to retain veteran New Zealand forward Paul Rauhihi and 17-stone Moimoi, who has been outstanding in Parramattas late charge to the NRL play-offs, would be an ideal replacement.
The Eels are looking to offload players and Moimoi, linked with Bradford Bulls earlier this season, is reportedly up for grabs.
Wolves utility player Paul Johnson is another likely departure and could be on his to Wakefield, who yesterday signed Huddersfield prop Michael Korkidas on loan for the 2010 season.
Leeds stars Jamie Jones Buchanan and Keith Senior will miss the defending champions last match of the regular Super League season at Salford on Friday where a point would be enough for them to lift the League Leaders Shield after picking up one-match bans.
Jones Buchanan was suspended for a chicken wing tackle on St Helens prop James Graham a technique that places undue pressure on the shoulder joint while Senior admitted punching Saints Jon Wilkin in last Fridays fiery clash at Headingley. Rhinos prop Kylie Leuluai escaped a ban despite pleading guilty to a high tackle on Graham.
Celtic Crusaders have re-signed Australian forward Adam Peek on a two-year contract and are set to agree new terms with prop Jason Chan and winger Luke Dyer.
Sheffield Eagles centre Tangi Ropati will join Harlequins at the end of the season.
