I never knew this but Moltzen was a Junior Kangaroo 7!. Chris Lawrence also kicking goals from the sideline in the rain.....

I never thought he was a genuine 7 , just thought he had a good patch of games there when the side was running well....

Someone show this to Sheens

Junior Kangaroos pip past Fiji

October 5, 2007 - 8:54PM

Halfback Tim Moltzen landed a 76th minute field goal to get the Junior Kangaroos out of jail against gutsy Fiji in the opening match of their short South Pacific rugby league tour.
The cream of the NRL's young talent found itself down 14-4 by halftime at the National Stadium after some brutal defence from a Bati combination featuring 14 players from the fledgling local league.
Penrith centre Michael Jennings' unconverted 57th minute try came after the Bati had repelled the Australians for five consecutive sets of tackles, only to knock on when they got the ball back.
Tweed Heads Queensland Cup grand final star, Shannon Walker, then flashed over with 13 to go, leaving it to Wests Tigers first grader Chris Lawrence to land a difficult conversion in heavy rain to tie up the international at 14-14.
He did so and Bulldogs lower grader Ryan Millard's field goal attempt with eight left almost clinched a famous victory for the Arthur Kitinas-coached Fijians. The shot went off the left and it was Balmain-Rydes Moltzen who proved the hero.
"We spoke about the fact they probably couldn't foot it with us over the whole 80 minutes," said Australian coach Matt Cameron.
"But to their credit they stuck to their guns."
Former South Sydney coach Arthur Kitinas said of his men: "I was surprised they kept going. I don't know where they get that energy from.
"They've had weights programs going here for the last six months and the difference was they were much stronger today than they ever have been

Yep. Don't need Moltzen at 7, we can try Benji there again for at least another 16 weeks...

I find it funny though. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but I'm just seeing Trent Robinson (was that even his name?) written all over him.

If Sheens starts Moltzen at 7 next season, I reckon he would have to be in the mix for NSW next season. NSW have tried Wallace, Pearce, Mullen.
Kimmorley was only broght back for game 3 this year so NSW didn't lose the series 3-0. Maybe Moltzen at 7, Mullen at 6 for NSW next season???

Big call on Moltz to play Oranges. He should have played 30 games of FG at 7 by now. His running game is good, but needs to improve his general kick play and passing still not the most accurate.

Mullen is absolute crap. Soward has more talent in his toe.

Tim needs a full season at halfback in 1st grade. I don't see SOO as an option for him at this time. That said, if mastercoach would play him in his best position all year, I hope he carves them up, proves he is ready and wears the blue jumper. You also have to remember the SOO selectors were the morons who picked Ennis though.

His Origin career died the day he pulled on a Wests Tigers jumper... He might play a game or two if he's lucky, but Tigers only ever get picked when there's simply no other choice. Farah was almost the exception to the rule but the selectors (bless 'em) came good in the end.

And just what will Sheens do if Moltzen does get the call-up now that J-Mo's not around to fill the void with all that utility value?

Best one yet westie - comparing a dude who played a couple of games of first grade to a 20 year old kid who's already played 32 games, scored plenty of tries and hasn't looked out of place whilst doing so!
