moltzens injury?

They only problem I can see with that surgery is that it might be one of those quick fixes, but not quite the proper job with the usual rehabilitation and healing period. It could get him on the paddock quicker, but in the long run it may cause him further injuries and such. You have to remember he's only 21 years old, he can still play another 10 years after this. I don't want that surgery having him comeback prematurely and ruin his career.

The fibres they use as an artificial ligament actually allows human tissue to grow within the fibres...so i cant see it being a long term issue.. Seems like the future in sporting ligament injuries..

If he is able to get this surgery, we will see him back for the finals... Well....i do need some hope.

one thing to remember is that with the lars procedure, there has not been any test done on long term recovery over 10 15 years for sports people. Maybe for older people who will not put the ligament under stress it is OK however.

Another factor is that since the ligament is synthetic it may get rejected from the graft causing many other issues.

Also whilst the lars procedure has been used is Europe mainly the US has not taken to it yet, and our doctors are much in line with US doctors, so as such most specialists will do the hamstring graft until more long term research is done.

Hopefully there's positive news, he managed to limp off, albeit on his other leg. He could possibly be in not that bad a shape considering most with that injury weep in the back of cart.

I have a bad feeling we'll see Fitzy at 6 and Benji at 7

a very very baaaad feeling indeed.

I'd love to see Lazarus come up into the 7 and to be honest it's probably not a bad time, as much as wins would be great, we aren't in a situation where there is massive pressure to get the wins at this stage.

The biggest issue to come from this, is that Lui will return from injury soon, meaning he will be the half for the rest of the season.

6. Marshall
7. Farah
9. Fitzhenry

The media backlash will be huge if Marshall plays 7 imo. He's the best 5/8th in the world atm, why move him?

Positives from the injury I guess:

- Moltzen in the 1 is no more, it's either Tuqiri's or Ryan's for the season. Unless a fitzmasterfitzstroke is made.

- Sheens may not see Moltzen as a ball runner in the future following the injury, instead a ballplayer as he should be.

-Moltzen's a right footed player, and has a right footed step which is good since he injured his left. He doens't normally put too much strain on his left, this was just a freak occurrence.

As much as id rather see Lazarus or Tuamata there i think i could live with Lui. Altho he didnt set the world on fire , i think with the team playing the way they are we could still perform with a half being solid without being brilliant. Lui has looked a bit better this year in defence and maybe the rest of his game can pick up as well. In saying that tho i believe if the half we do select before Lui is back is going well and we are winning games then they should keep the job because Lui hasnt done enuf to warrant automatic selection status yet.

Hit the nail on the head - Lui might not be amazing but it was more the combination of him at half (as an ordinary to average player) and Moltzen at fullback (where he was woefully out of his depth) that had me worried this year.

You can live with one average player in your spine, not two. Ryan has looked solid at fullback (and was fantastic against the Eels), Farah is all class and Marshall is playing his best footy. All we need is someone competent at the basics - Lui fits the bill.

Doesn't anyone else find it ironic, when we had a wealth of halves, Sheens would insist with Morris and he'd never get injured/be moved.
As soon as he leaves, both our halfbacks get injured...

Same with Payne and Halatau, with us they never seemed to get injured. At the Dogs they're out for an eternity.

We have some horrible luck.
