Actually Sam I think it has already hurt us a great deal by not being more vocal about the management of the club. For example it ahs always been hard to get real change on the board but from what I have read on recent changes it is now getting close to impossible. The way the redevelopment has been handled is another example of lack of action on the part of the members and then the board has hurt us.

Here, here. It's the flacid acceptance we have all been guilty of for years that has the club in the position to be criticised now. Hiding behind it all in the name of being "positive" is actually a negative.

The club has long been guilty of poor transparency, if bringing to light the things that upset us will encourage transparency I see no reason not to focus on and discuss them

Ok ok, but aside from screaming about it on this forum what are you doing about changing things.

If youve got something happening to change the board then let me know and I will be there will you but in the mean time I am not going to keep bashing them. Doesnt mean I accept their mediocracy but I'd just like to feel positive about next year and so on.

So you seriously reckon that it is better off to upset all the sponsors who could have done the work, at the risk of having one happy and the others possibly upset.

Sorry but I just can't fathom the logic there. Every businessman loses contracts and tenders, sometimes they get upset, other times they learn from them. But what is the worst is when you don't even get invited to participate, despite handing over your money to the club over a long length of time. If the club was that worried about upseting people put out a proper request, with a stipulation that any unsuccesful tenderer can have a feedback session and where the final price will be made available to those persons who missed out. Happens all the time in our industry, particularly with Government tenders, and the feedback process is very helpful.

Furthermore I don't know that it wasn't another sponsor that got the business. When I run into him again I'll ask.

Either way this one now former sponsor would have been OK with losing it, he is not OK with not being considered and as such is no longer a sponsor. If your reasoning is correct, and again I can't agree with the logic, then it has failed as they are a sponsor down.

Shark I don't know if it went out to tender or not. All I know is that these guys weren't even asked to quote. The club has their contact details whenever the time comes around to ask for money, so it wouldn't have been too hard to notify them about the work.

Mate, You respond to me as if I made the decision. Settle down a bit champ, you mis-read me if you think I'm a lapdog apologist for the clubs marketting/sponsor dept I can assure you of that !

I was just trying to play devils advocate a bit, but you seem to have forgotton my opening bit about me believing that sponsors should always get first crack at these types of things.

And on the matter of always bashing the club Sam, don't shoot the messenger/reactionists.

The solution to your complaint about constant bashing is simple....the club just needs to stop f**king things up. Simple.
