Anderson, for his part, has suggested Penrith five-eighth Preston Campbell is in the running for the Kangaroo tour. "If he plays good at the end of the season, he'll obviously put himself in the window," Anderson said.
Would that be the same window of opportunity he got to play half at the Sharks? 20 minutes of a trial with 8 jersey flegg players against the Warriors.

Oh there was that time he came off the bench to replace Noddy, set the attacking line deep, spread the ball and we scored, 36-6 loss I believe against Parramatta. Ando didnt like that one - I guess he doesnt like tries unless scored from dummy half.

Oh and "If he plays good at the end of the season, he'll obviously put himself in the window" - well where does that leave Kimmorley?

Ando threw his water bottle down actually & sent the runners out to reprimand Campbell & Johns. Prestons head went down straight away.
Anderson must think all league supporters are idiots.

Don't take the topic of track just because of your dislike of preston(28 tackles, 2 misses V warriors).
The topic is on Andersons comments.
"He will get every chance to play for the number 7 position"
"He will put himself in the window"

On the topic though .....Its was in the smh today that shane richardson would write a letter to the selectors and coaching staff seeking a formal "reason" why preston would not be included in the squad, if he was to excel in this weekends game...

Thats pretty dumb..

Look at it like this;

Did Tim Sheens write a letter back in 1990, when Boxhead Walters didn't make the tour, despite his brilliant form that year?

Did Ricky Stuart write a letter last year when Minichello had a blinder of a year and still couldn't get a test jersey?

There have been a stack of players playing well all year and still haven't been able to get a Test jumper. Nathan Blacklock was a brilliant example of this. How long did it take him? After 3 years of good form he finally got one.

I don't think David Waite and Andrew Farrar were firing off 'Please explain' letters to the ARL.

Naa ....i agree booyah .......i dont see it as being much more than a cheap shot from an exshark to a current shark ...

The reasoning behind it though, that makes it slightly different from the examples you mentioned, is that through all the injurys and 'pullouts' from the test squad, pc is the best performing 5/8 left in the comp....

IMO he did nothing in last weeks game.........infact i havent really seen him standout since about mid-season..............He'd no doubt have a good impact off the bench though....

Even if Presto is the best performing 5/8 in contention for the tour, i wouldn't like to see him up against a good poms side. He could get found out in defence?

Could he ever, particularly if Senior was running at him.

oh my how boring. This is another police academy re-run. As much as i like the little fella i will wait to see how he stands up this weekend. That major semi against Newcastle a few years back with us, he struggled. I still wish him all the best though.

Good heavens. The Preston issue has been dragged up again after almost two seasons. Hmmm! I wonder if it's gonna be dragged up in 10 years time too.
Bitterness shortens lifespan. Give it up. Put a smile on your dial. You'll feel much better.
No charge for the advice. It's free. :)

What a top bloke you are, Popper!

Good on Richo.

ARL & NSWRL head of selectors Bob McCarthy has said several times that he doesn't have to tell players why they did or didn't make it into a team. OTOH QRL Gene Miles DOES call up all the players in contention and tells them. Perhaps McCarthy feels he doesn't have to be accountable for his decisions as a selector?

The fact is that a formal explanation would give a good insight to the players about the selection process and whether any formal process exists. Let me ask you - do you reckon the selectors are in touch with the modern game? Do you reckon they make decisions based on form being the primary criterion?

In 1995 SL players headed by Laurie Daley took the ARL to the Supreme Court where the presiding Judge ordered the ARL to pick players on form. Despite Daley taking the Raiders to the semis in that year and being in brilliant form, did he get picked in the World Cup squad? No. One selector even publically admitted at the time that those SL players were left out because "they went to work for a man that gave up his Aussie citizenship".

I'll just comment this...

If Anasta isn't in the train on squad, and Timmins and Barret are out, then who are the selectors going to pick at the No.6? Who left has played better with the No.6 on there back ALL year? and finally, why hasn't Preston even been considered or mentioned?

I already know the answer to the last question... ;-)

I had to laugh the other day. I was up at the bottlo, talking to one of the staff, who is a MAD Panthers supporter, and this came up. I asked him who he thought would get the No.6 for the tour... his answer was swift and to the point... "Preston". I started laughing my head off and he is looking at me inquisitively, then says "Whats funny?". I then said, "and who is the coach of the Kangaroo's again"... his head dropped and he said... "fug, I didn't even think of that!!"...

That sums it all up for me. It is a sad fact that PC wont tour because of who the coach is. It will be even sadder if the selectors over rule CA and pick him, then CA just leaves him sitting there the whole tour!!

Yeah he sure is a Liability. The Biggest pack in the comp targetted him in the biggest game for his club in 12 years & the biggest game of his life. The Warriors ran two passes wide off the ruck all day to target Campbell & Gower. That's Lauatiti, Seu Seu, palaeasina, Swann, Guttenbeil, Villasanti. Of which Campbell is 20 cm & 35kg;closest to.
What was the tackle count again for Campbell Millers?
Anyway those tackles must have been accidents, the ones where he was completely outsized. He is much better taking a leaf out of Kimmorleys book & when he sees he is outsized, just jog along side & wait for someone bigger to tackle them & come in over the top second.
