Fitz is a rookie coach so we really don’t know if he has “it” yet. We are guessing. If we do get Bellamy than that might be a different story.

We’ve had to wait for a better roster as there has been no room for Morris to move. I’m of the opinion that he got a lot out of what he had to work with during his time. He was building something and it has been destroyed. It’s disappointing. You can’t expect miracles from someone who hasn’t been given the tools.
I acknowledge that. I’m not solely saying bomber wouldnt get the results, I’m actually suggesting he couldn’t get the names we want at the time when we have the money. That also remains to be seen.

There are things at play that we are not privy too. Even the people who know some stuff don’t know it all.

Dino will go down as the man that killed us for 10 years OR the one that brought us years of success. No pressure!

Meanwhile, the development of our best prospects is stalled and we have a terrible culture of a team of individuals pulling in different directions.

We are preparing a terrible foundation.
I actually think we are ripping off the bandaid to help what’s underneath heal much much quicker than letting it remain static for 3 more years.

Some of these posts will be really good bumps in 2024.

Oh and as for those players pulling In Different directions that says more about them as professionals than it does about the club as a whole. This is why most of them are not right for what we are trying to build here. Harsh but it’s what league is now, a business, ask madge.

I agree with this, but do have doubts that he has that ruthless edge the top flight coaches have.

Well, they’ve had their leader removed at a moment’s notice and replaced with an interim.

It shouldn’t be any surprise that there’s a lack of direction.

I doubt there would be many institutions where that would unfold well. Particularly in an environment where teamwork and mutual understanding is so critical.

It's not really the boards fault with the timing of signing CF, that's how it is in the NRL.
I'm with the board because you can see the place is slowly losing it's winning culture from 2016. I don't think Morris was the one to stop the rot.
Also a lot of new contracts to deal with and again I don't think Morris was the man.
I'm more excited about Fitz signing and anyone with a clue should be as well.

Morris had strengths at developing young players. He wasn’t a winner. As a player or a coach.

A journeyman who could do a job and fit into any system. But what did he win?

As a coach he had 20s teams that dominated the normal season. Smashing records left right and centre. How were the finals results, Striaght sets on more than one occasion.

I’m sure he is a great bloke and players want to play for him. Was that more due to the personality and lack of accountability or because he was able to squeeze the lemon and get players across the line when it mattered.

For me, if you aren’t first, you are last. Making the 8 in a 16 team comp is not an achievement. Sure it’s the fault of the comp structure, but winning more than you lose and being in th top 4 every week is what’s wanted.

Players should be looking at the draw each year and saying shit, we have the storm Sharks and Penrith back to back to back. Now they see it as an easy game between 2 top teams.

I’m on the Fitz and board train. I want a winning football side to go with the winning board.

We are in the best financial position we have been in for as long as I can remember, including a full kit of sponsors. I expect the board to deliver that for the club and they have. I don't expect the board to take the field, make tackles, score tries, kick goals and win games. That's on the players.

Most "fans" forget that everybody at the club has a job to do to be a success, especially the players.

Yes I believe that they are headed in the right direction. Only time will tell. I’ve agreed with everything done so far. Won’t crucify them either if they make the odd bad call moving forward. We are treading water in mediocrity at the moment and some tough calls needed to be made. Give them the rope to make the calls and see how it pans out. With the exception of 2016 we’ve wallowed in misery for 55 years and if these guys lead us to being a powerhouse moving forward then it will be worth the pain. They can’t do any worse than some of the other f**k knuckles that we’ve had since inception. If I’m wrong tell me about the golden successful periods that I must have missed since 1967.

The stellar playing careers of Trent Robinson and Shane Flanagan were particularly Memorable.

This isn’t about Trent and Shane. Some players can coach, some can’t. Some could coach, but couldn’t play.

So it’s probably not relevant bringing up his playing ability, is it?

(Not that 300 odd games of NRL should be construed as some kind of failure.)

Backing the board 100%. We have been slipping since 2017 and if we don’t change now it will only drag on and on and on till everyone is begging for changes. I’d rather us hit rock bottom this year but spring straight back up, than take 10 years of slowly going up and down.

So again,

How long until I am allowed to give up on Fitz and say that he can’t coach if we don’t get results?

It looks like he’s going to get the squad he wants.

Yeah absolutely, but for these guys their performances are out there, they can't hide that. If you're working at a company and leaving soon, either to no job or a job that performance you put in won't be known to future employees.

Play like crap in the NRL and other teams are watching, here and overseas.
Just not the cowboys :joy:
