I don't know if you met Adrian, but from my experience I consider him one of the nicest blokes to ever rattle the teeth of his opposition. He loves nothing better than a hard & fast game. I've seen him take hits and just gets up, never have I seen him take a swing at the opposition just because he was hit with a great tackle. I have not even seen him carry on and jeer an opposing player after one of his hits.
A couple of years ago we played a regular season game at Wigan. During the first half Wigan had to drop out from beneath the sticks and the ball went straight to Mozza. He ran it in as only Mozza can, full pelt basically, and the Wigan defence came to meet him. Two went low on him but a third Wigan player came in, leapt off the floor and smashed Mozza square in the face with his forearm. The impact was massive and Mozza was out cold for several minutes. He was taken to the dressing room where he came round with the help of the salts. His eye was fully closed and the swelling on his face was huge.
By the end of half time, he was dying to get back onto the pitch!!! You could see him champing at the bit to get back on. And here is my point. He was champing at the bit to get on, not because he wanted revenge but because it was a big game and he hated being on the bench and having to watch the game. He came back on with about 15 minutes to go, head heavily bandaged and only able to see out of one eye. He drove the ball in hard, tackled like a demon and helped set up the winning try for Brad Godden in those 15 minutes. He didn't once go out to seek revenge for the brutal assault on him in the first half.
The bloke is not a thug, he plays the game in the only way he knows how too. Hard, fast and fair. Its only his tackling style that has let him down in the past.
And how anyone can call the guy a coward is beyond me!!
