Morts was forced to make 32 tackles last night. He had Waterhouse and Lewis running at him all night and he came out the other side OK.

He's a real talent. I'm pleased that he will sit down with his Manager and years end to look at a contract extension. I would be very surprised if a player like him could walk away from our club now. We might have a good side now, but next year we will rise to another level. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that ?

Maybe you should try the same..... you were talking about the main reason he was talked up was only because of his name. I disagree. I'd happily talk him up if his name was McGooley.....

God, I'd love a halves pairing of Humble and McGoolie!

Not the main reason they're talking him up, but it has played its part. Just trying to keep things balanced, that's all. I like him, though. Don't get me wrong. I'm not about to start calling him 'she' and 'her'.

Hi all. Just wanted to add my 2c - looks like you've got a great one to keep there, Mortimer looks the goods for many years to come, hope you guys can hold onto him. I'm definitely on your bandwagon for the finals seeing as my team is out of it, you guys are so much fun to watch at the moment. It must be a great time to be an Eels fan - and next year you've got Poore, the Loveshack and Tahu coming over ... geez! Very jealous ... good luck for the rest of the year. :)

That's quite true. But don't forget he's got impeccable support from Jeff Robson. Robson would have racked up thirty-odd tackles last night as well; put in four absolutely top-shelf kicks in the first half; did his share of 'steering the side around'; gave lots of good ball to Mortimer and the other backs. It's probably fairer to say what Warren Ryan said last night - that the Parramatta halves were the heroes on the night. He describes Robson as a "very solid half-back, who steers the side around well, and has great defence".
If Mortimer had to play outside Finch, he'd probably be back in reserves by now.

Gee I hope we can somehow keep Robson in the squad for one more year... even if KK is the number one starting choice next year, one injury in the halves and we'd be crying out for a Robson to save us again.
