Still can't put my finger on it if this kid will cut the mustard or not. I want to believe that he will be a good players but there are things to his game which give me doubts.

Yet, every now and then he comes up with a nice play. It's way too early to drop him and I hope DA sticks with him as it will be good for him. I'll say that his kicking game definately needs work.

Anyone see how Albert went in the 20's? Our season is over and we might as well see how he goes.

Ando has already said that he will be basing his halves combo for the next few years on the KK / Morts combo.
If Ando can see some good things in it - thats why he is the coach.
Personally I dont see it but then Im not the coach - he is.

I agree with everything you've said. I think in a way its a good thing hes up and down, gives him a lot to look at while he's young to learn! Its now a season for that after all.

I think he looks good on his feet, good ball runner. Had a decent first half, ma a couple of breaks/half breaks that werent finished off.

Certainly need to play a half inside him who has a kicking game though.

I'm definitely not convinced ... alot of his kicking is terrible and he makes alot of bad reads in defense - but he's young so i'll cut him some slack on the defense - but if you are a half then your kicking MUST be one of your key areas no matter how young you are ..... he runs the ball well tho, which is a nice change at parra

I thought morts was decent tonight, his found the grass with his long kicking game.

It's very hard for our halves to do anything when

(a) our forwards aren't laying the platform
(b) our backs are standing flat waiting for something to happen.

Morts is a player of the future and will only get better with experience.

Kris Keating - I cant see how a player who has little to no attacking passing game, is a poor organiser and can not pass from left to right is considered a first grade half!

in a word he was shyte..he hardly looked interested out there his execution was poor and hardly ran the ball...mind you, his team mates weren't much chop either, with the exception of Daniel Cross and Mitch Johnston.

He was very ordinary tonight, but it happens in first grade you're entitled to have some shockers and it was only his 3rd game. I wouldnt drop him cause I know he's gonna do well in the next game. I reckon him and Keating are gonna be good halves for us, hopefully.

I saw more promise in Morts playing against men tonight than I did with Kelly playing against kids.

does anyone else who saw both games agree???

4 games into any player's first grade career... I'd have my doubts. Give the bloke a break. He'll learn.

Jake, name me one player in the history of rugby league who has proved himself a superstar after only 4 first grade games. FFS.... if the coach feels at this stage he's our best long term option Im happy with that.

KK was crap for about his first dozen games:?

I have to agree, give him a chance atleast and I doubt Anderson has set anything in stone for next year to do with our halves. Mortz has shown promise with his kicking game, esp his short kicking game although his long kicking game can be good it can be erratic.

KK has shown he also has a good kicking game (very different style to Mortz), has an excellent running game and a nice short passing game. Mortz does add a bit more variety inside the 20meters and allows Hayne to play a second 5-8 role (very much Hunt like).

I see positives but anything can happen, we could have an early christmas and some how sign Thurston or Prince because they have a falling out with their clubs (very very very remote) - point is anything is possible for 2010 considering we are only halfway through 2009

I wonder where the word sh*te came from. I believe someone was consuming a peanut. However this individual wasnt aware that he was severely allergic to peanuts. Going to anaphylactic shock his throat was closing up and in his last breaths an attempt to say sh*t exited his mouth and entered the ears of nearby observers as 'sh*te'.

Well, Morts was found out very badly tonight. Tim Sheens really exposed alot of our weaknesses tonight. I thought Jarryd Hayne was off his game, especially in defence.

I said it earlier today that I was shocked at the hype surrounding Morts and tonight just proved me right (had to get it in). However, he should remain in the team. Every player makes mistakes and bad games, this was one. The thing that makes these players superstars after they have been found out is that they improve their game. If Morts can improve his problems, he will be a great player. But to be honest, he has alot of things he needs to work on.

i hate to offend anyone, but kk and mortimer are not anything special and not the saviours. i hope i am wrong, but we are screwed for many years to come if da is resting his hopes on them.

I am leaning towards this, not saying that I agree because they both have potiential, but I think a completly difference halves pairing is what we need. New halfback, new five eight, both from outside the club.
