4 games into any player's first grade career... I'd have my doubts. Give the bloke a break. He'll learn.

Jake, name me one player in the history of rugby league who has proved himself a superstar after only 4 first grade games. FFS.... if the coach feels at this stage he's our best long term option Im happy with that.

A creed which holds steady for Mortimer but not for Robson. I know, I know - Jeff had a shocker. He's older. But he has what - 7 First Grade games under his belt? I know, I know - "There's a reason that's the case!"

My point is we're willing to give Mortimer time because he's young and inexperienced, but will crucify Robson when he is also inexperienced. He is NOT the answer, but if you're willing to cut Mortimer some slack I say Jeff deserves some too.

he's no further advanced than KK was at this stage

the guy needs more time, its not as though we have too many other choices

I like his running game better than his kicking game which tells me he's a 5/8 not a half back

I saw more promise in Morts playing against men tonight than I did with Kelly playing against kids.

does anyone else who saw both games agree???

Kelly has a pea heart. I don't think I've ever seen a player with such a big head. He'd throw a stupid cut out pass over the side line or miss a simple tackle and not offer an inkling of an apology to his mates. I'm positive that he'd think that it was someone else's fault.

He's not a team player and certainly not as good as he thinks he is.

noticed that too huh??..I'm not a a good judge of body language but a couple of things struck me about last night, Kelly looked like he didn't give a toss and Hayne was not well.

Kelly WALKED for 90% of the match.

Don't get me started on Hayne. He walked back in to position with his back to the play for a whole 20 seconds. Like he didn't give a flying f**k. :crazy:x2

maybe he didn't want to impress the Tigers to much

we've got a million players capable of being a 5/8 ... runners, not passers/organisers/kickers .... so who the f**k is gonna take control of our team? :(

Ando said in the press conference that Hayne didn't train on Sunday because he was sick and whilst out on the field, he struggled with his energy and hence why Burt played at fullback at various times throughout the game.

He possibly shouldn't have played

Well that makes sense. His body language however was atrocious. I think it rubbed off on the team. Not saying the lose was any way his fault, but his attitude stunk.

Frankly Hayne was our best player last night which is no rap to anyone.

He was clearly sick as a dog and struggled when the Tigers found space. Burt had to move back to fullback and just proved what nuffies those who wanted him there permanently are.

ALl our early momentum came from Hayne's kick returns. As he struggled worse and worse and stopped being as threatening everyone else appeared to simply stop tring to win the game.

And Matt Keating's service is getting worse evry week. We had amazing field position for the first 20 but we were so slow and so lateral we never looked likely, even while Fui and Hindmarsh were making dents in them early.

The biggest problem with our "halves" is that both Mortimer and Kris Keating are really only number 14s at first grade level at the moment; and of the dummy halves MK, Kingston and Mitchell are probably not top level 80 minutes (or even 60-60 minute) 9's.

Ando would be sorely tempted to give everyone opportunities for the rest of the season so we can sort out who will be ready by next year.

If we had Robbie Farah last night we win that game by the same margin.

i think it was obvious he wasn't well .... and i reckon my attitude would stink too if i felt like utter sh*t .... he started ok, but you could tell he was feeling unwell as the game went on

Yep, maybe I was a hard marker last night. I guess if he put in every game then I wouldn't have been disappointed with his attitude. Too many times I've seen him dish up similar efforts without being affected with the flu. I guess he hasn't earn't my respect as yet.

Nice post as usual Bigfella.

You make a good point about our dummy half service. I am really having serious doubts about MK being our long term 9. He just does not seem to have that ability to make quick yards which is essential for a dummy half. He is a bench player at best. And how many of his passes find the open grass! I am sure that is why we have supposedly tried to buy Craig Wing. DA obviously has concerns too.

OMFG!How slow are our play the balls. It's like someone hit the slowmotion button.I had time to go get a drink, have a root and a smoke and i still didnt miss anything. We're too slow and stale and the opposition have our number.Until we can get some spark and zippiness(is that a word?)we will continue to get dominated.

Maybe he should earn some respect for the fact that he was crook as a dog but didn't want to let the side down. He could easily have put his hand up and withdrew.

You are being a pretty tough marker there Gronk. They are the sorts of things that earn my respect!

Even if Jarryd was not ill last night (which clearly he was) he is entitled to a bad game. He has been super for us this year. Will win the clubs best and fairest now if injured for the rest of the year.

Back on subject: Mortimer: IMO - Shows more promise than anyone I have seen come through.
Can't wait to he get's some better go forward, a motivated team, and a creative Mateo back in the side.
He has the essentials for mine.
Speed, Sense of position, Support play, defence, kicking game.

He has some developing but if he is showing promise in a broken side what will he be like in a side going places???

Can't believe people bagging out Hayne for last night. FMD, he was ill and was STILL our best attacking weapon out there. It wasn't bad attitude when he looked like he wasn't giving 100%, it was his body preventing him from being able to give it. Hats off to him for still turning up despite how bad he was feeling.

Cant believe people are bagging Burty , he moved to FB and looked super dangerous and quick.

I like Hayne at 5/8th and Burt at FB and maybe like TT on the wing.
