To be fair, the bloke keeping him out the fullback role was Brett Hodgson who turned into quite a handy player. What would you do?

I would have kept one at fullback and one on the wing. Permanently.

I'm not sure about that, Smithy gave his teams free reign when they had the capacity, skill and confidence to be able to execute. All his teams worked hard before they deserved the right to spread the ball wide or try that trick pass.

Hmm. We`ll see. I think it`s no coincidence that the real stars don`t like playing under Smith - because he over-structures, over-regiments his teams. There`s a saying (well, a truism, really) that 'not all micro-managers are psychopaths; but all psychopaths are micro-managers.'

shifcofske was moved to the wing to accomodate hodgson at fullback - hodgson played great for us there and went on to play for NSW .... i was disappointed shifcofske effectively got bumped, but it was hard to fit em both in hte team

That`s not what I meant. Smith kept swappng and changing Shifkofski from fullback to wing throughout the course of a single game. As soon as he went to Canberra and got to play fullback permanently, he was a star from day one.
