I'd say Mitchell Pearce really has stepped up.
Sam Thaiday has been fantastic! He really is a devasting and probably kill NSW this year by himself Watmough 09 style.

From the Knights Uate has been outstanding. I think close to the best winger in the comp on form. If I had to pick two wingers for NSW it'd definately be BMorris and AUate.

I think it isn't really the best thing to name guys like Paterson, Heighington and Thaiday, who have had great seasons before, just had a bit of a slump last season.

Names like:

Mitchell Aubusson - should have always been in the backrow or lock, amazing cover defender and linebreaker in the pack

Scott Bolton - looked good last year in his first full year of first grade, but this year has taken it to another level

Joel Thompson - great form breaking the line in the centres, still should be in the backrow once all players are fit and firing

Ben Te'o - he was rubbish for the Broncos last season, but is now showing what he can do when he plays with some heart

Akuila Uate - still good for an error every game, but looks unstoppable when given really good ball out on the flanks

James Maloney - was nothing more than a reserve grader last year, now showing leadership and maturity beyond his years

Ben Smith - giving the specific role as a specialist defender in the backrow, flourishing as a strong and mobile tackle hitman

I'm going to throw another curve ball from the Cowboys:

Ashley Graham

Just about every Cows fan wanted him dropped last season. He couldn't pass, catch, run decent lines, tackle or even read defence well. Something like 60-70% of the tries scored against us could be attributed to his terrible reads on the right edge.

This year he's been improving with every game. His handling's better and his reads in defence have been MUCH better - he's kept guys like Pritchard and Inglis fairly quiet. If it wasn't for the lousy defenders on either side of him (Rovelli and John Williams) we'd have won a few more games.

He's not a superstar, but he HAS improved a lot.

At the opposite end of the scale is Grant Rovelli. Can't run, tackle, pass, catch, kick or organise. Fairly useless as a footballer then.

Josh Dugan is somehow even more awesome than last year (didn't think it was possible). For Penrith, as mentioned previously, Tim Grant, Matt Bell, Sam McKendry, and Lachy Coote.

People wanted Ash Graham gone? Please, he's the most whole-hearted back we have.. so often last year he'd be among our best in a losing side. I spent time last year arguing with people about John Williams' supposed status as a first-grade quality player, which I think he is far from. And don't start me on Rovelli.. can someone please teach him how to tackle, and how to take on the line?

For the Warriors, Sam Rapira has really stepped up this year in the absence of Steve Price, Warrior's best player this year except when Manu has played of course.

I don't know, have these players really improved that much over their 2009 counterparts?

Especially Reddy who's seemingly gone backwards. I still shudder at that Raiders game.

Maybe not better then they were from 2009, but there isnt anyone from our squad IMO that I could say is better then last year except Tim Mannah. But that would be a difficult challenge for someone like Hayne and Fui Fui. Joel has improved out of sight in the last 3 years and Luke Burt hasnt changed that much, he's just getting involved in big plays more often though

Presto....keeps getting better....I remeber in 06/07 when prince left Supercoach gave presto a bit of a back hander-saying " I know who I'd rather be playing with between Marshall and Preston".....I thought he was above this at the time...

Most Improved for the tigers - Beau Ryan
