The players/media/coaches pretty much use the same phrases every week but the one I hate the most is "he/we've been training the house down."

A couple of years back they were all crapping on about "the red zone". Now it's been dropped, thank god. I think the ch 9 commentators watch a lot of American sports TV & aspire to that level of spectacle. Then they start bringing Americanisms into their calls, eg I hear Rabbits talking about defence as "dee fence". I also often hear him talk about "the ball game", things like "now we've got a ball game". That's usually when I mute the volume.

I used to enjoy listening to Hollywood & Zorba in the '80s & one of them would always refer to tactical games as being "chess with football boots". I'd like to see that one brought back.

I like Americanisms, such as winningest, the ball game, the ball park, the only one that irritates me is Warren Smith's 'And the Tigers will play from in front tonight'.

Definitely the use of 'arhm' at the start of every sentence. Wendell should be banned from tele because of it and Bird should not be interviewed because of it.

Separates conversations between league and union players though
