Right now: Kotoni Staggs. That's not to say he isn't capable of correcting it. I used to watch him at Dolphin Stadium so I've seen the potential up close. But he gets fixated on one part of his game at a time. It used to his speed without utilising much footwork. At the moment it is the big fend. He did one almighty fend and now he tries to base his whole attacking game around it, basically ignoring his speed and footwork. When he works out he can put it all together, then he might start realising his potential.

Of all time? I'll get back to you. I need to think about that one. There has probably been a few in my book.

Currrent - Zac Lomax. I don't know what it is they see in Mr Flick. He always runs his winger out of space and does that f**king flick pass which turns any dragons fan that still has hair either grey or bald. Add to that his goalkicking which you can pretty much guarantee he will miss the important one. To top it off his gamesmanship is just over the top and so cringe to see.

All time - Anthony Mundine. He definitely rated himself and the media circus around him was ridiculous when he was in form but he was a glory hunter and it cost him a grand final and a rep jersey.

Current. Ben Hunt.

Sadly also our best player in 2022, but the guy just isn’t an organising halfback. The few big plays and the competitive plays that he pulls off mean that he is untouchable, but he can’t organise an attacking set, a simple backline movement or get an easy repeat set.

All time? Ben Creagh. This bloke ran some good lines in a great structure and was selected for Australia. Also the worst captain of the club in living memory.

Sorry but where did I compare Jason Cayless to Brad Fittler? I never did that at all. All I said was not finding an adequate re[placement for Cayless at prop, combined with Brad Fittler's retirement is what contributed to the clubh sliding down the ladder in 2005-2007. When you wind up with Sticky doing dumb things like playing Craig Fitzgibbon at prop, and bringing in Brett Firman to replace Fittler, is it any wonder the Roosters slid?

Sticky kept moving second rowers to play in the front row, rather than leave them in the backrow where they started. I mean Adrian Morley played most of his career in the second row, until Stuart moved him up front. We did not win a GF with Morley in the front row.

Jason Cayless was a good, specialst front rower. He may not have had the enforcer role that Morley had, and due to his kjnees his lateral movement could be ordinary at times, but he was the best specialist front rower at the Roosters from 2002 to 2005.
There is a fish and chip shop in townsville that still has a Firman burger.

I think Anasta is one of those players who was overrated for a few season before everyone started saying how overrated he was and has probably since been underrated. He was never going to be a Fitler or Daley but was probably on par with Trent Barret, though i think Barret had a few more strings to his bow. Anasta probably had a bit more ticker than Trent though.

Current is Stephen Crichton. A bit like @MRN ’s comments above about Staggs, gets talked up for one part of his game and doesn’t fulfil his overall potential. We are lucky because the overall squad was so good this year our overrated player played like a reasonable quality first grader rather than the superstar some made him out to be.

All time. I could be controversial and say MG; okay I get it he was fiery, but his good games were 1 in 4 at best. But the real winner is Trent Waterhouse; if there was an all time stat for penalties given away needlessly, Trent would be the GOAT.

Obviously never watched the Sizzler (Ben Czislowski) in his Bulldogs days. Would carry the ball 4m to the line before being driven back 5-10. Did look like Hindy though.
Will never forget back in 05 when "cyclone sonny bill" came to townsville (there was literally cyclonic weather for about 10 minutes after game had started and then disappeared, was bizarre). Was also the biggest w#nkfest any commentary team has managed to accomplish about SBW. Apart from Carl webb scoring a 50m try, the highlight was czislowkski getting shortened up pretty good and put on his back by aaron payne, rod jenson and leigh mcwilliams individually in one game.

I remember that. After round 1 people thought the Dogs looked odds on to go back to back. After round 2 not so much. To me the game is the one which ended Matt Utai’s career as an elite winger. Teams used to kick in between Patten and El Masri for a weaker kick return then on play 2 Utai would always go 15 from dummy half. Thurston masterfully kicked everything in behind Utai and made him struggle for yardage, then tackle 2 and 3 were easily dealt with scoots from Patten and Hazem. A complete Masterclass and the game that really showed us how good Thurston could be.

Look I know nobody rated Lachlan Maranta. But the fact he was even selected for one game put him in the conversation for me.

Right now it's flegler. Has so many massive f**k ups in him

Ben Creagh was fantastic. Basically unstoppable close to the line. Best backrower we’ve had in my time watching the game. By a long shot.
But agree he was a pretty bad captain.

Agree about Hunt.

All time ? Trent Barrett.

I too remember the SBW wank-fest. "Highlights" of the night were the cameras focusing in on SBW while he was just sitting there on the bench doing/ saying nothing for literally half a minute while the actual game was in progress. And Fatty remarking that the 20k crowd had all come to see SBW.

Both Channel 9 and Fox sports are guilty of crap like this. They cut away from what is happening on the field to show someone sitting on the bench, or the coaches box, so you wind up missing things as a result. I mean we want to watch the game. If I want to see someone sitting on their backside I only have to look around where I am for that.

"It's no surprise that the dogs score as soon as sonny-bill comes on", he came on at the halfway line replacing somone in backfield and hadn't even caught up to the play yet

No posts from Warriors fans so far, must be time consuming figuring out which of the many bums we've had to choose from.

Current: Jazz Tevaga. Plays 'with heart' like so many cult figures before him at the Warriors, despite offering very little for extended periods of time. I could've said Shaun Johnson but seemed too obvious. Also Reece Walsh, who to be fair played behind a retreating side, but my granma's online defense is better. She's still with us, bless her, but is very old and brittle.
All time: Charlie Gubb. Another 'heart' cult figure who had a haircut that jumped up and down a bit when he hit the defensive line, so became a hero. Made 3m a carry.

Far too many others to name.

Shaun Johnson has to rate a mention.

On his day - sure he can make some nifty plays, but it's CONSISTENCY that's always been his bugbear. For every solid game there's like 3 or 4 where he goes missing.

I honestly thought his time at the Sharks may have driven better week-in-week-out performances into him - you know, being away from the Warriors "good enough" culture.. but nope.
