For an en Eels all timer it’s Nathan King of sting Cayless, he’s talked as an Eels all time GOAT. At his he was just a very good first grader but after 05 he was a plodder with shit hands and the odd good offload. It was criminal he was paid more than Hindy for the majority of their careers.

Now with them both gone it’s that cauliflowered eared midget Mahoney and that fuzzy headed merkin Papaliiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Jason was the better player overall than Nathan. Thing is when he came back to Australia after his stint in the UK, his knees were shot which is what ended his career. The Roosters never found an adequate replacement for him when he went to St Helens in 2006, which combined with Fittler's retirement, is what saw them slide down the ladder and ended Stuart's tenure as first grade coach.

All time....Wolfman. Having a beard took this walking gimmick a lot further than it should of.

Current...DCE. how this bloke is even in the conversation with Cleary is mind boggling. He is essentially a headless chook with a big boot.

Lol at comparing Jason Cayless in anyway to Freddy.

The best thing he ever did was let Priddis run straight past him in the 2003 GF.

Sorry but where did I compare Jason Cayless to Brad Fittler? I never did that at all. All I said was not finding an adequate re[placement for Cayless at prop, combined with Brad Fittler's retirement is what contributed to the clubh sliding down the ladder in 2005-2007. When you wind up with Sticky doing dumb things like playing Craig Fitzgibbon at prop, and bringing in Brett Firman to replace Fittler, is it any wonder the Roosters slid?

Sticky kept moving second rowers to play in the front row, rather than leave them in the backrow where they started. I mean Adrian Morley played most of his career in the second row, until Stuart moved him up front. We did not win a GF with Morley in the front row.

Jason Cayless was a good, specialst front rower. He may not have had the enforcer role that Morley had, and due to his kjnees his lateral movement could be ordinary at times, but he was the best specialist front rower at the Roosters from 2002 to 2005.

Current - Ponga. Although other than Young and Klemmer they’re all overrated.

All time - Adam Muir - Handy player but error prone. His stupidity nearly cost us the 97 GF.

I still remember Round 1 in 2009 or 2010. Fourth tackle of the game Farah jumps out and turns the ball inside to Heighno who made 4ms running into the marker. A bloke behind me yelled 'FFS another year of this shit' 🤣

he put up good yardage numbers when we had lost Skando and Laffranchi and had a pack in general that were not meter eaters (Gibbs, Galloway at that point, Payton, Halatau, Fulton, etc). When Gareth Ellis arrived and showed us what an actual world class back rower looked like Hino really looked a plodder. Had Dwyer’s career not ended at 20 he would have been twice the player Hino was.

plus, to this day, I still don’t know what he was doing in that scrum against the Roosters in the 2010 finals. One of the plays I will never understand. All he had to do was pick the ball up and we were into the prelims. May have cost us the 2010 premiership.

Not sure if you can count Jake Marketo as overrated (Played 51 games). How he played a game in firsts i'll never know (apart from his dad being best mates wth Mary). He is the only forward i have ever seen have a negative metres gained for a game.

Obviously never watched the Sizzler (Ben Czislowski) in his Bulldogs days. Would carry the ball 4m to the line before being driven back 5-10. Did look like Hindy though.

Probably the worst first grade player I've seen.

Looked like what would happen if you took a slightly above average size bloke off the street and had him run at first grade forwards.

I said it in the other thread but Suaalii is very overrated right now, his manager is overhyping him but nobody is really disagreeing.

All time is tough, maybe Mitch Pearce? He was a good halfback but made to look much better than he was within the Roosters system and of course made all those Origin sides over and over again without much success either. Media loved him, always yabbered on about how he was a gamebreaker which at times he was but not often enough.

The person who was "hyping" him, and talking about his burning desire to play fullback, works for Souths and no longer has a formal work relationship with Joseph. I suspect he made his comments just to try and create problems at our club.

As to all time? Sorry but Ryan Cross would be mine over Mitchell Pearce. Too many Roosters fans would rave about Cross' attack, whilst ignoring how Cross would always either: (1) rush out of the line looking for the big hit and miss, or; (2) go for the intercept and not get it; resulting in his winger having to defend 2 on 1.

In 2000 I don't know how many times I heard people criticising Minichiello for poor defence on the wing, often ignoring that it was because he was having to defend against 2 attackers due to Cross.

Then add in that Cross would rather pass a kidney stone than the ball, leading to so many bombed tries because he'd go himself rather than a simple draw and pass to any supporting team mate. Is it any wonder that we won the 2002 Grand Final with a centre pairing of Shannon Hegarty (who played left centre inside Brett Mullins) and Justin Hodges (who played right centre with Mini on the wing outside him).

No Shannon Hegarty for Easts or Souths? Was a bum

He was a good player until he had a major leg injury in the 2004 pre-season which kept him out for most of the season. He was never the same once he came back onto the field, he lost a lot of speed and acceleration. Why do you think the Roosters let him walk at the end of 2004 and sign with Souths?

Maybe his time at Souths is what I remember most

basically every prop on their books apart from Asotasi was injured. Wouldn’t surprise me if they went to Bankstown Leagues Club and offered to buy someone a slab if they filled in for a month or two
