In 1935, Eastern Suburbs 87 defeated Canterbury 7 at the SCG
Dave Brown (Eastern Suburbs 1935) scored 5 tries and 15 goals, for a total of 45 points (50 points today with 4 point tries)

Will this record ever be broken? Will an individual ever score a half century?

Next best is Dave, again smashing the Bulldogs,

1935 Eastern Suburbs 65 defeated Canterbury 10 at Pratten Park
Dave Brown only scored 6 tries and 10 goals in this match, a total of 38 points (44 points in todays scoring).

tied with

1991 Canberra 66 defeated Eastern Suburbs 4 at Bruce Stadium
Mal Meninga scored 5 tries and 9 goals, a total of 38

Campese scored 36 in Canberra's massacre of Penrith a couple years back.
That is the biggest individual tally I can remember in the past 15 years.

Didn't Terry Campese score something like 36 against the Panthers in 2008. At the end of the game he could of tied Mal's 38 but the halfback got the kick at goal instead?

Anyhow I think someone scoring 6 tries in a match is another record that would be hard to reach.

Records are made to be broken but an idividual to score 46 points in a single match in todays game would be incredible but I wonder if anyone would ever get near his 38 tries in one season.

Sydney Roosters have no records.

The Eastern-Suburbs Roosters however are awesome.

If you want to be a pedantic prat then the Eastern-Suburbs Roosters is also wrong.

Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club.

To answer the original question, it'll never be broken because there aren't amateur hour teams filling up half the competition spots anymore. It's why people laugh at Souths everytime they go on about their premierships, they just beat amateur teams in an unbalanced competition

The 36 scored by Campese is the biggest since Mal back in 1990.

I bet Dave Brown would have swapped half those points for some hair.

Greg Alexander scored 46 points (5 tries, 13 goals) in a tour match in France on the 1990 Kangaroo Tour. Don't think it counted as a first class game (I believe that's the term for it), so he isn't regarded as breaking Brown's record, but a good performance nonetheless.

I don't think anyone will ever touch Brown's records in 1935 - 38 tries in 15 games, 65 goals, for 244 points at an average of 16.3 points per game, or 18.8 in today's money. To put that in perspective, here are some more modern point scoring wizards' best efforts: Andrew Johns - 2001, 279 points in 21 games, av 13.1; Hazem El Masri - 2004, 342 points in 28 games, average 12.2; Mick Cronin - 1978, 282 points in 25 games, av 11.3 (11.9); Ryan Girdler - 1999, 229 points in 21 games, av 11.7; Daryl Halligan - 1994, 270 points in 24 games, av 11.3; Matthew Ridge - 1995, 257 points in 23 games, av 11.2; Brett Hodgson - 2005, 308 points in 28 games, av 11.0; Graeme Eadie - 1976, 233 points in 22 games, av 10.6 (11.0); Eric Sims - 1969, 265 points in 24 games, av 11.0 (10.3).

Girds 38 points in an Origin game tops all of them if you ask me.

And I HATE to even think about that game.

I'd treat it as "first class". I wonder if any one has never done a cricket type thing, and tried to classify what games/competitions throughout the years are considered as first grade/class or better.

George West scored 53 (11t 10g) in 1905, don't know the status of this game, but it seems senior.
