Speaking of that, he ended a guy's career last year... what was his name?

Regarding McDonnell:

Some one has given you a bumb steer here mate.

Shannon is one of the most gifted fullbacks I've watched in my short time as a league fan. Suggesting he only makes the team because of family is ridiculous when you consider some of the tripe Lawrence, Moltzen and Hanbury have dished up this year.

Sheens has shown a liking towards bringing players in and wrecking careers. See our 5/8th... what was his name again? I have forgotten it's been that long between drinks.

Playing Macca on the wing is about as sensible as playing Hodgo etc there. He's too small at his young age to deal with the sideline when he's not chiming in with extra numbers Billy Slater style.

He is however fantastic to watch slicing up the middle of the ruck like a normal fullback.

Just because he has been mis-treated by the coach doesn't mean he's no good. Even this week he isn't ready for FG and will be played out of position. But hey, he's not the only one.

Must be a very short time as a league fan. Stick with soccer. He may've carved up at PL but ive seen no "slicing" in first grade.

for a fullback his hands and feet aren't very stable or co-ordinated

And why might you have seen little of this. Hint: refer to my post for two fairly decent reasons.

His first game against Penrith he was unreal.....cant recall ever seeing a kid on debut make that many linebreaks/metres.

But......for whatever reason he hasnt gotten close to that form.

Imagine if Whaturira knew how to pass...

He's not a farkin winger. He, like most, have been f**ked over by the stupid BRET situation which occured. Add this to hitting FG too early and we've got one f**ked up player who needs to find confidence from somewhere. He could also do with being played in position.

His support play is terrible for someone who should use his pace. He's either lazy or doesn't have the football brain to know who to support. His hands are bad, his defence is bad, he's small and doesn't run hard. I fail to see one attribute that says he'll make it. He's been given a rails run and even then would run a distant 7th at muswellbrook or tamworth on a wednesday

He could do with some banners and a bunch of dickheads making a supporters group for him.

Hop to it dingaling

I understand that facts dont lie and your right MOTH Sheens record aint that crash hot... our performance over the last 5 years has been nothing short of disappointing. I pay good money for a season ticket just like a lot of you and nothing kills me more then going to watch my team week in week out, which is the highlight of my week, and they play like a park footy team.

But 1 thing i have to give Sheens credit for is the base he has created for the club with his youth policy. There are a lot of good young players coming through the ranks (Lazarus, Dunley, Peni, Lawrence, Togo ect) which 5 years ago was non-existant. I enjoy going and seeing the NYC team each week and watching out future talent pool and it is exciting ! We have just this season seen some of these young blokes actually get a crack at 1st grade and get some experience under their belt.

Also does anybody know if this is true... i heard we have the 2nd youngest team in the comp (dam hodgo driving up the average hahaha) ?? If so i think we are in a good position in years to come, however i spose that doesnt help us right now.

In all honesty who have we had come through and make a big impact since 05. I can think only of Lawrence. The youth policy that bore fruit was in place before sheens ... Robbie, Halatau, Fulton, Gibbs, Collis etc were all in the system before sheens arrived.

What kills me Spank is watching morris cruel us week after week and him being there only because his coach's ego cannot handle dropping him and thereby admitting to the world that he stuffed up. It was a ludicrous signing. We have a style where we can play off our heads and throw it around according to what is in front of us because the team has a lot of natural footballers. Morris is nothing but a manufactured athlete - it stands out like dog's balls. It's like sending a trackie dackie wearing size 26 heiffer from Raby into the Sapphire suite on a saturdy night

He ensured those players ( Robbie, Halatau, Harrison, Fulton, Gibbs, Collis) were kept, and not lost like Hoffman, even topping up their flegg payments out of our top tier cap to ensure they remained.
Thank Sheens for that.

Well i was thinking mostly of people that are gonna hit NRL in the next 1-2 years and a few that have hit this year... Dunley, Peni, Ryan, Moltzen, Lawrence, Teo, Ashyford, Vengoa, Lazarus, Makaui, Tonga, Harth... all have greatly impressed me in NYC ??

I cannot agree with you more about Morris, its a failed venture with him at halfback and i thought watching him butcher it for 24 rounds last year and 4 this year would be enough for Sheensy to say ok i tried but this didnt work lets look at other options. I have been to 3 games this year and each time (even though 1 was a win) i have walked out the gates with my old man and gone, man we got no kicking game something needs to be done or we in for a long year. I been dying to see a young fella get a crack at the 7 and i was SO pumped when Moltzen got promoted but hopefully Head will work out this weekend.

You know what though, i feel a bit for Morris... he was thrown into a position he probably didnt want to begin with, he always puts in 110% which i respect but the bottom line is he aint a halfback, never will be either.

Either way i will be at every game we play, i love the team (i was a magpie fan) and i want nothing but success for us... but a decent halfback would be nice hahaha !

Sorry mate but if you or I or chopsy or SC or Eddie or Smeg or Alien were thrown the 7 shirt we'd play with 110% commitment as well. We'd also not be up to it. The `puts in 110% line' doesn't wash. Scott Prince putting in 70% would be preferable. John Morris does not have a footballer's brain on him. Nothing is instinctive and he is unable to play what is in front of him because he just can't do it. It's not in his nature to count heads or to see what is unfolding in front of him

Lazarus looked very likely in the NYC and it's a shame about his injury. He looked a class above in PL last yr as well. Townie looks likely as well ... reminds me of darren albert for some reason

You know what... i had never looked at it the way you just put it and it makes perfect sense.. your dead right he cant see the play unfold infront of him its all so manufactured.

Im shattered about Lazarus, his play in NYC this year has been nothing short of mind blowing... he has GOT to be our fullback next year when/if Hodg goes to UK... agreed ??

Townie is very quick ! How bout the little dummy half Makaui too, lot of talent there !

I don't know the story on lazarus .. i do know he was carried off chair style by 2 trainers at full time the week before with what i presume was very bad cramp. Smeghead alluded to the fact he shouldn't have played monday but has said no more .. big brother might be watching ... Lazarus could replace hodgo next yr ... i still think marshall should be taken out of the front line and i'd play him at fullback (at least when we don't have the ball) .. maybe lawrence at 5/8 in defence and fullback when we have it ...

yeah was bad cramps that week. And my money would be on Lazarus to replace Hodgo for sure.

I really hope he bounces back from this well as he has a good head on his shoulders, a good positive attitude with a commitment to make it at top level. Its shattering this has happen to him of all people.

Someone mentioned Towney before about someone to watch.. I agree!!! I really like the look off him.. his like a vulture the way he keeps his eye on the ball and looks dangerous every time he gets his paws on it.

Simple fact is I had not asked Lazarus the extent of his injury the week before. Injuries are something I like to delve into too much as some guys are iffy.

What I do know is Lazarus was carrying a hamstring issue from the pre-season. It came good, or so it was thought, the week of the Dogs game. H broke down at the end as you all know. I only asked to make sure he was feeling ok and didn't go into details.

On Monday he broke down just in front of where I was sitting.

It makes me question our clubs rehab procedures and also the surface at Campbelltown in wet weather. However I do not know the full facts so don't see how speculating any further will be usefull.

But as I said it, along with other incidents this season and last eg: Hodgo & Gibbs injury management, makes me question if there are issues with that area of club staffing.

FTR I see Ayshford, Tonga, Davidson, Stolk Mataka, the hooker whose name I cannot remember and Townie and particularily Lazarus, Moltzen & Latham as major future prospects
