Not sure I want to watch that. Unless it turns a corner like Bad Boy Bubby. Though that first 40mins was hell to go through to get to the good bits. Though you did need to see it to make sense of the rest of it.

I loved BBB but hated Happiness. Am I weird?

It's a movie that people who like to say they are "broadminded and/or open-minded" will watch and say they enjoyed thoroughly. Hipster's would love it. I'd watch Sandler's last 10 movies 5 times each before I'd watch Happiness again. Hell, I'd watch Pixels 50 times before I'd watch it.

...or maybe other people just see things differently than you do. It seems you were offended by the content and wrote it off without trying to understand what they were attempting.

I wasn't offended. I was disgusted and nauseated but not offended.

Maybe that was what he was aiming at?

That's a pretty damning assessment. I'm not sure I could ever promise to watch Sandlers last 10 movies with some of the crap he has put out in that lot like Jack and Jill and the The Ridiculous 6, neither of which I could bear more than 10 mins of.

It was a small indie film with a 3 million dollar budget, it wasn't a failure at all. They weren't trying to make a box office hit, it's an arthouse movie. Solondz has made stuff like Happiness his whole career, they knew what they were getting into. It's well reviewed everywhere, even by users on IMDB.

I haven't seen Ken Park. It could be compared to Kids in a way, they're both confronting and told without the restraint of a moral compass. Happiness has an extremely dark satirical sense of humour permeating throughout though and it's a lot more f**ked up in parts, for example, one of the main characters is a pedophile.
