Mullen on the Juice

I'm gutted for him but the rules are the rules and if he has done something against the spirit of the game to gain an advantage then he'll face the consequences. The really sad thing is that he probably did it to save his career and instead he may have ended his career.

TBH though he's been injury plagued for 3 or 4 straight seasons now and we can't keep paying big money to a guy who plays less than 10 games a year, it's basically a big chunk of our cap for nothing. And he's not very consistent when he is fit either.

Love the bloke and he's given his all for the club but this probably came at the right time tbh, now we can move forward with Lamb as our 5/8 and hopefully he can get lots of experience this year and form some good combos with our other playmakers.

Don't know about others but the real shock here is that Mullo was on 750K a year. I mean, really???? Gidley can claimed to be shocked about the positive sample but FFS, who signed off on giving him that amount.
Makes me even more supportive of Brown showing everyone the door. Bloke must have had a big night on the drink after he first sat down and saw what Hagan era players were on.

Deadset millionaires factory.

Yeah it's ludicrous money. Even at his best, he isn't worth that.

Just when your starting to hope we can climb over the dragons for last place with their half woes, this happens.

Mullen might have benefited more than the $550 k I've seen quoted. Zero tackle has him on $550k.
Marquee player and vehicle might add to it. He might also be on a 3rd party sponsorship. Could be education but I have never heard of him doing it.
He has been on TV broadcasts and seems to have been inclined to pursue that. That will go out the window if the B test is positive.

I'm annoyed about this. If it's true he should have known better. It appears he may have taken advice outside the club.

At first I thought he might have been taking something to help with injury recovery. He might have thought he was but drostanolone shows up for the treatment of breast cancer in women and is used by body builders. Claims I read say it is weak and is usually used to reinforce other anabolism steroids to enhance their effects.

It doesn't appear good.I reckon if Gidley had assurance from Mullen that he hadn't taken anything suspect then Gidley would be backing him with the B test.

Mullen will drop into the "if only" category.

Some wild accusations/ideas/gut feelings foating around in here....

If he had been using something for years then the NRL is a laughing stock as far as testing is concerned. May as well do away with it if he's been using for years and years and only now been caught at the end of his career. Bit of a blight on the policies set by club/s and the games' administrator and anti doping bodies being adhered to.

Something just occurred to me. I remember hearing last week that the betting agencies had had an influx of bets on the knights to win the comp, and as such had wound our price in. Wonder if whoever was supplying Mullen knew he would get caught and reckon the knights are a better team without him, either with the squad as it is or maybe the knights have their eye on someone else who a game breaker and is currently available and the knights can use Mullos contract money towards them.

Or maybe it's all one giant coincidence *shrugs*

Can't use Mullen's money this season unless he is sacked ASAP or some sort of agreement between he and the club is agreed to. Apparently the B sample result will take some weeks so nothing much will happen before then you would think.

I'd love to know what sort of bets were placed on the Knights to win the comp. Wouldn't take a lot for agencies to alter the odds. They're a fickle bunch.

Why would they lower the odds at all? Unless Jesus Christ rises again, plays fullback for us and performs a few miracles we are not going to win the comp.

When the money started coming in they should have raised the odds, encourage more donations!

B Sample by the end of the month. When he fails, sack him immediately for breach of contract.

The guy should resign immediately any way and do the right thing by the club if he has not protested innocence - which it doesn't appear that he has.

Pretty clear he'd prefer another few weeks worth of pay. These guys have no loyalty.

I cant even care anymore. It just feels like a another day for Knights fans

Wake me up when something good happens. Thatll be a nice change...

(im actually really interested to see how the club handles R1 if he does end up gone. Do they mention it or pretend it never happened? He is sort of a retiring club legend, just with a really nasty finish...)

It's a fitting retirement for our club. Johns, Buderus x2, Harragon. I'm sure there's others I've forgotten.
