Just heard Graham Murray has passed away aged 58.

Sad news indeed.

A good coach.

He was a great bloke. He was my teacher throughout highschool and also coached me through a couple of my playing years. A really great man that will be missed by many, many people.

RIP Muzz, like everyone said, good coach and good bloke. He was also responsible for turning the Illawarra Steelers into a very respectable team in the early 90s, and he did good work at the Chooks, certainly better than Goose Gould.

Lovely bloke.

Would've loved to have seen what he could've done with our mob...but we went with Big bucks sticky.

Illawarra - the spare parts club who made up the numbers until Muz got the job. They then won the pre-season comp and made the semi-finals for the first time.

Cowboys - continually bottom of the comp despite such coaches as Tim Sheens. Enter Muz and from 2nd last to the semis for the first time. Next year they were in their first Grand Final. Never had the same success.

Rorters - Gould had charge of the star studded line up for seasons for no success. Enter Muz and he does what Gould couldn't - get them to the Grand final. In doing so he threatened Freddy Fittler with being dropped if he didn't lift his attitude. His reward for making the GF?......Gould sacks him from the last year of his contract and told him, "Don't even come to the club Presso night" - the year he made the GF.
Sticky came in on the back of his success, but couldn't sustain it.

Won the Challenge cup in the UK.

Coached the women league team which won the world cup.

Coached the Blues in the first game of the 8 game Qld Dynasty. Was beaten by a Qld try in the dying min in the third game decider.

Other coaches who cant hold a candle to this bloke are lauded for far less. Had the ability to get teams to play to their best. The sign of a true coach.

What could he have done with Holt's mob?

Huge loss.

RIP Muzz.
