My Day at the Footy

Captain Clark

Today I travelled out with some buddies to Toyota Park to see my true great loves in action - the Wests Tigers and Steve Clark.

It was the first time in a long time that Clark had refereed a Tigers game. Now, this may have a negative point to it too, as any bias I have towards the Tigers had to go out the window, and I watched the game with an objective view.

My buddies and I tried to get a few Clarky chants going ('1-2-3...WE LOVE YOU CLARKY' for instance), but typically no one joined in.

I must say it was tough for a couple of the calls, but in the end, Clark had a very solid game - one of his best - and the Tigers won!!

I was even lucky enough to meet the great man after the game, getting his autograph on my refs jersey again. He even said "oh hey Tom!".

It was a fantastic day out, one I won't forget in a while.

Congrats Clarky for proving yet again to be the best ref in the NRL and also proven that he's not a home team ref!

OK mate...you lost. I guess it's sour grapes but I'd like to know why you thought he was so bad?

He had a very good game in my opinion. He didn't use the very ref once (which is quite remarkable these days) and when he had to make the tough calls, he did.

Was a bit average today, but in no way cost us the game or anything close, we did that well enough ourself.

Whats a very ref??

in the Eels v Knights game Cummins didn't use the Video ref at all you could argue he should have on a couple of occasions but the Luke O'dwyer try for example was a try no doubt but it was one that 99.9% of the refs would've gone to the video for and I'm glad Cummins didn't it's about time thecrefs actually made decisions themselves.

yep for some odd reason thats the 3rd time in a row the sharks/Tigers have done the excet thing

we are always close for 60 mins than in the last 20 we start too pile on the points but one thing that has impressed me with the tigers is the fact that they can score back to back tries i think there done it this season more than any other club in the nrl

There was still alot of forward passes that were let go especially from Kimmorley. It was quite frustraiting that the flat passes sharks through were all let go and Clark an the touchies listened to the crowd on the Tigers flat passes. Still even with the home ground advantage it couldn't get the sharks home.

Not much point in having home ground advantage if the crowd don't influence the ref!

TTS just said they did influence the ref. Just not enough to win the game.

Kimmorleys gridion passes were a joke, especially when we got called back for forward passes 4 times to their 0.

I didn't see the game but my usual tipping method of tipping the home side in a Clark-reffed game didn't seem to work this time. Maybe he's been reading my entries.

Hayne is definately the most improved ref this season Hurriflatch.I think he will be pushing for a semi this year with Clarke,Simpkins and Hampstead/Archer.

Clarkey,We will see who is the number one ref when they do the appointments for the Doggies v Dragons game tomorrow.I for one hope its Simo :p

I think Simo will get it to avoid the same controversy of when these 2 clubs met at Jubilee in the semis of 1998 when Clarke was reffing...
