I'll be in Newcastle tonight. Purposefully under-dressing so I don't get dragged into any of the shit (all of them) establishments in Newcastle, especially Silk. Although a sledge sesh could be fun.

Not necessarily Eel.Grief affects people in varied ways.Some times,particularly when the death is sudden the grieving have not had time to process the reality of death and the funeral becomes the first light of belief.That ,together with some people's plain fear of public speaking ,means that sometimes funerals will only have a priest or celebrant speaking even if the dead person is very much loved and missed .

It's certainly possible - plausible, even.

But for one example, my dad died suddenly, and people were climbing all over themselves to speak at his funeral. Only one uncle (who had previously agreed to do so) apologised and said he couldn't at the last moment because he was too emotional (understandably).

I used to believe that people would not speak ill of the dead, but after being at a few funerals where the tension was palpable and the temperature in the room was nearly 273 degrees Kelvin, well...
