If Mary trotted out the following team would you be happy or would you think about boycotting games?

Dugan
Mc Donald
Lafai
Aitken
Nightingale
Widdop
Mc Crone
De Belin
Thompson
Frizzell
Packer
McInnes
LAM

Vaughan
Simms
Matthews
Marketo

I believe this will be very very close to what we get dished up with maybe Matthews the only question mark.
How many players would need to be changed for you to want to go to the game?

I've turned into an insomniac due to the potential nightmare of it being a reality.
If it is the side the forum will just start adding more posts on "Oust Doust & Sack Mary".
People will whinge and others will defend and others will be accepting.
Groundhog day 2 Feb so buckle in folks it could be another rough ride.

Honestly all the wraps on Dufty are due to his last 2 years at FB.
He has numbers mortals can only dream of and people want to come up with some c**k eyed idea that he will make a good 5/8 or 7.
We just bought a top line 7 and there a big wraps on Filed as a 5/8 and in the meantime lots in here lament the lack of attack from the back of the field.
The only question for the club re Dufty is it this year or next year at FB.
Sides get cocked up and careers often ruined by people making arbitrary decisions and playing people out of position ala Benji.
Good centres can become good wingers at a pinch but it's not always the case and a few superstars after some NRL experience can transition in other positions (Lockyer, Inglis) but for the time being lets leave Dufty to what he does best and that is weave magic from full back and let's be a little patient as his time is not that far away.

I would agree with you OT if i thought Dugan was a centre, IMO he is a fullback, Iam only going off his form at the Dragons. Not considering his form in the Kangaroos as Thurston,Cronk & co would make even Lafai look like a superstar'.Therfore i believe that to only consider Dufty as fullback would be a waste of his talent & not at all a c**k eyed idea.Yes we have a half back but that is in 2018 not 2017. IMO i would rather give someone like Dufty a go at half back than have the complete predictability of McCrone.Anyway, to this time,i dont believe Jack Birds versatility has damaged his career at all

If the new coach is announced early, Mary may not act so conservative as his fate will be known. Under this circumstance I believe the following team will be selected:
Dufty
MacDonald
Dugan
Milne
Nightingale
Mann
Widdop
Vaughan
McInnes 80 min
Packer
Thompson
Frizell
Sims - 80 min

Mosoe
Host
De Belin
Leilua

Well, that's exactly the team I chose possm, so I hope he does go that way but I'm not as convinced as you that he will...

Good side Possm..No way Mary will pick Dufty...Will probably pick Duges Fullback;..McCrone will be 7 ;..wouldn't suprise me if he picks Lafai in the centres. If not will be between Milne/Aitken/Mann/Macdonald

And of course after a few loses Marketo will make an appearance.

We all rejoiced in the Cutters success in 2016.
Host, Milne and Mann all went back from 1st grade for the finals series and all contributed to the win along with the regular squad.
Is there any chance that by going back to the Cutters that this might have some negative effect on them starting in 1st grade again this year?
After all many people are saying Mc Donald, Vaughan, Leilua & Masoe if fit should start the year in 1sts and also some now pushing for Lafai.
If they were to come in someone has to go out.
I for one think it would be outrageous if the reward for Host, Milne and Mann playing in the Cutters wins was to lose their first grade spots.
After all they only went back because they were eligible not because they were dropped and would the Cutters have won without them?
I really can't wait to see how this will all play out.
Agony or ecstacy?

I hope that Faifai Loa doesn't get near the first grade squad. In my opinion he is a reserve grade winger. I would say Macdonald, mann, dufty, nightingale would all be above him. And if Lafai is to come back into the squad he needs to dominate in cutters for 10 weeks before he gets his chance.

Agree about FFL 100%.He has his moments but he is heart attack material

I fully expect those three to be playing reserves again come round 1. Mann our highest try scorer will be dropped for a winger with a lessor strike rate and will also be overlooked for the halves. Host will lose out to Masoe and Leilua because they both have more size for Mary's power game he wants to play and Milne will miss out most likely because he is not a local junior and Lafai has so far been Mary's preference. Really, last years success in the lower grades will not be transferred to 1st grade due to JD moving on and Mary's preference of players.

Hey Old Timer. You're the first person I've come across who knows the date of Ground Hog day. Especially interesting to me as that's my birthday LOL!

When you get old you just know a lot of stuff and most of it is shit.
In amongst it are the monumental things like the date for groundhog day.
Have happy birthday on Thursday and I'll have a drink for you on.
After you have had a few I suggest you try this wonderful old tongue twister which is about our old mate the groundhog aka "woodchuck"
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck
If a woodchuck could chuck wood?
As much wood as a woodchuck could chuck,
If a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Mann should be first back selected
I thought in the second half of last season Kurt Mann was our best back ...and by some way . I would like to see him selected in his normal position left centre . But at the very lest deserves to keep his wing position .

Thank you very much. I'll be sure to have a few. Especially as it's the big 6 OH!

Brings up about 55 years of following the Red and Whites after growing up at Rockdale.

Rockdale RSL Club that brings back some memories.
Met Mrs OT there and we just clocked up 33 years (official one's anyway) yesterday.
Used to love the way all the shops decked themselves out in R & W whenever we made the finals.

Rockdale RSL was just up the road from me! Chapel Street. But it's changed a lot since 1971 when we moved south.

In the mid 60's my brother and I used to ride our push bikes from Peakhurst to Rockdale, Kogarah, Carlton and Allawah to play tennis in the "Illawarra Comp" as it was called then.
We grew up in a housing commission area and to see loam tennis courts in the back yards of people's houses was the sign of real affluence.
Those areas seemed so rich and beyond our wildest dreams.
We were lucky we were in the St G district for all our sporting activities, if we had of lived 700 years further south we would have been in the dirty dogs area.
Dodged a bullet or 3 there.
