My thoughts on an NRL expansion into WA

When the NRL is ready to expand into WA, what would be the best approach? The best approach would be to admit two Western Australian teams into the NRL. One in Perth and the other in Fremantle.

Having two teams in WA will benefit the NRL in the long term for the following reasons:

- The NRL will have games being consistently played in WA rather than every two to three weeks.
- A derby between Fremantle and Perth would boost the popularity of the NRL in WA.
- Two teams will provide more opportunities for local WA players.
- Perth and Fremantle are in close distance of Jakarta and Singapore, providing opportunities to tap into those markets.

Rugby League can be successful in Western Australia with the right investment made by the NRL.

What I’m thinking is the following teams get admitted to NRL1 with each team playing each other 4 times with a top 6 finals series.

Perth
Fremantle
Kalgoorlie
Joondalup
Margaret river
Broome

The current 17 clubs play in NRL 2nd division with no chance of escaping the inadequate league
