From the first grand final I can remember watching, 1997, the Manly spine was Geoff Toovey playing with a bloke that would later get 10 years in prison, and two absolutely forgettable blokes in Shannon Nevin and Anthony Colella. That's a spine in a grand final team that was seconds from being premiers!
