Plath was a great clubman, but there is no way when ranking the broncos 1-30 that plath would break the top 20.
In no order

Langer
Lockyer
Walters
Walters
Lazarus
Tallis
Webcke
Thorn
Carroll
Petero
Berrigan
DeVere
Renouf
Hancock

Broncos:

1. Darren Lockyer
2. Mick Hancock
3. Steve Renouf
4. Mick DeVere (gk)
5. Wendell Sailor

6. Kevin Walters
7. Allan Langer (c)

8. Shane Webcke
9. Kerrod Walters
10. Glenn Lazarus
11. Gordon Tallis
12. Brad Thorn
13. Tonie Carroll

14. Petero Civoniceva
15. Andrew Gee
16. Darren Smith
17. Lote Tuqiri

* Kevie gets the nod ahead of Wally at 5/8th because he played 271 games for the Broncos compared to 50 appearances for Lewis.

* Mick Devere gets the nod as starting centre ahead of Darren Smith because he is the greatest goalkicker in Broncos history.

* Pound-for-pound Lote Tuqiri was probably more talented than Mick Hancock, but there's no denying the contribution Hancock made to the club. That's the #1 reason why I would start Hancock on the wing with Lote on the bench.

I'm not a Broncos fan - far from it... and I understand why no Wally - but what about Gene Miles? Terry Matterson? Chris Johns?

The other place I wondered about was the 2nd row - Gillmeister and Cann were part of those great teams - whereas the Broncos haven't been dominant in the Tallis/Thorn era -(for all the beat-up around Tallis - Qld didn't win too often with him either)

I took longevity into consideration as well as trying to pick the most balanced side.

Miles was the hardest to leave out. He is the most talented of the 3 you named but he only played 70 odd games for the Broncos compared to Mick Devere's 170. Plus, in an effort to pick a blanced side I had to get a goalkicker in there and Devere was our greatest ever (better than Matterson IMO).

As for Matterson - there's no denying his value to the team at the time. He was a great clubman. But he was not a better player than either Carroll or Darren Smith IMO. Smith gets the nod off the bench because of his versatility.

Chris Johns was a good player for a long time, but I always felt he was made to look better because of the class around him. Renouf, Miles, DeVere, Darren Smith and even Shaun Berrigan were/are all better centres than Johns IMO.

Thought it might be more fun to do this with a team that I don't give a rat's arse about (note, as opposed to one I loathe) - so, of course the team that sprung to mind immediately was ...... Cronulla!! (actually, it's not a bad team, even though I may have missed a number of obvious selections...)

1. Peachey
2. Docking
3. Ettingshausen/McGaw
4. Rogers
5. McGaw/Ettingshausen
6. ugh....Dykes? Healey?
7. Kimmorley
8. Stevens
9. Raper
10. Nutley
11. Davidson
12. Miller
13. Hatch

Cronulla fans feel free to correct me...

i just re hashed my team from a thread on the norths forum re team of the century
some people raised your point but i think fairleigh use to go missing in matches at times [and could get away with it because of the fitness and tackling of moore and larson]
anyway bruce walker is on the bench!, so norths back row choices are incredibly strong [only hooker was harder to pick for me]

my team, all played for australia, bar
harrison who played for nsw during WWII, and had no chance to play for Australia
graham, who played for the kiwis
john gray who was a pom,
and griffiths who was a south african [but who played for OTHER NATIONALITIES WHEN IN ENGLAND WITH WIGAN]

^^^^^^

The tigers one posted by me would be the weakest one so far..(only had 5 years cmon), but if we had 2 more real good forwards (NSW or Aus reps) in that period they would compete against above mentioned teams.
