I think there is a need to try to maintain save some face and hopefully avoid a white-wash, but that needs to be balanced against preparing for the future.
1. Hayne
2. Josh Morris
3. Jennings
4. Cooper
5. Brett Morris
6. Gidley
7. Kimmorley
8. Bailey
9. Ennis (I'd prefer if Farah warranted retention, but really he doesn't ... which is a pity, since I think he'll be back and all the experience he can get is worth its weight in gold.)
10. Poore
11. Hindmarsh
12. Creagh
13. O'Donnell
14. Soward
15. Weyman
16. Learoyd-Lahrs
17. Watmough
The above team provides a core of experience to complement a team that is IN-FORM and features some established combinations.
Experience, form, combination ... I think every selection should tick at least two of these three boxes. Secondary to that, is the need to prepare for the future.
Guys like Farah, Campese, Wallace, Stewart, Williams, Mongahan, Mullen and Gallen will have a chance to earn their way back in (with the last two somewhat hampered by injury this season) and will hopefully be better for the taste they've had recently. Ideally the same advantage must be extended to the Morris twins, Ennis, Soward and Learoyd-Lahrs so that we can pick the best possible side for Game 1 2010 without all of the hub-bub over debutants (sure, that won't make them experienced, but at least the guys in my team won't have the additional barrier to selection of having zero Origin experience).
