On a related note, the Newcastle Permanent Building Society has announced they will fund a 38 meter permanent video screen on the southern hill at EA stadium.

Any word on when that will be ready?

A 38 metre screen? Is that correct?

1/3 the length of a footy field, thats some TV

Perhaps the measurement is a bit over

TVs are measured diagonally. I'd say it's about the same size as the portable one they have there on gameday. No word when it'll be ready.

Mate its a good thing that you have absoluetly no involvement in your club. You go on ranting and raving about Conway being sacked for poor performance when you would send the club broke within mintues.

This might be a revelation to you but if you want $750 000 for a major sponsorship you don't ask for $750 000. You aim for a million and negotiate from there. If you don't beleive that clubs are asking for a million for a major sponsorship when the TV rights are being bandied around for 40 million you have no idea. The Saints where negotiating a million with St George Bank in 2003. And as I have already said Souths have a 250K sponsorship for 8 weeks.

Boring Rat you said the Knights should be aiming for $1M a season. Full stop. I told you that NO CLUB gets even close to $1M a season. The Broncios are rumoured to get $800K and now the Knights are then 2nd highest in the NRL at $750k so just admit you are a goose.... and that you are wrong. At least being a St George supporter shows you are half way there already! LOL

As for disputing my call for Conways head... tell me ONE positive thing he has done in his 3 years as CEO?

Yeah its weired. Tyler said last week they he would be disappointed if they couldnt announce a Sponsor by the weekend. A week later its now In another week. I won't hold my breath.

Well I will stand corrected then. I didnt expect them to announce a new Major Sponsor as they had again promised but to Michael Costas credit - they came through. So dont say I dont admit when I am wrong - I was wrong this time!

Are you truely this stupid. Do you honestly think they asked for 750K and that was it? Do you know what the word "aim" means? All I said is that they should aim for 1 million and 800K would be a more a realistic figure for 2006.

I am sure that the Knights would be offereing 2006 for around 800K

So if they can get $300k for 1/2 a season they are doing well. If they can get $600K for ANY future year they are also doing exceptionally well - after 205's debacle.

So you were happy with 900K and they signed a deal worth 1.35million. The Little People being such a smart business person would have lost your club 450K. You have NFI.

You idiot.

1.The Roosters signed a 3 million 3 year deal with samsung in 2003 and recently extended it until 2006

2. In 2004 Manly received 1 million a year in sponsorship from Delmege Group on top of the 3.5million buy out of the club.

Good research Borat. I accept the Roosters at $1M IS the largest membership in the NRL with Brisbane at $800k. The Manly one isnt a true ongoing sponsorhip it was a special gift given at time of purchasing 2/3rds of the Club and wasnt for A Season - just a sponsorhip donation given at the end of 2003.

Anyway all I was saying was if the Knights got $300k for 2005 and $600k for 2006 then they are doing well. They exceeded it and did well.

Get over it goose. They didnt get $1M and wouldnt have even asked for more than $600k.. It was a CHARITABLE DONATION from Coal & Allied.

OK. Now that you blokes have sorted out what you think about each other, is anyone keen to talk about the Knights, football, anything?

This thread has descended into petty name-calling and one-up-manship... I thought that's what TFC was for.

Without trying to antagonise you further the Manly deal was buying a stake in the club and a sponsorship of 1 million. The article in the link explains this.

You know the ridiculous thing about all of this is that for the life of me I cannot understand how you took offense at my original post. It was never intended as an attack on your point of view infact I agreed with just about everything you had written. I said all along the C&A sponsorship is a great deal for club, I just suggested it may have been structured differently.
I have been in Sales & Marketing for 12 years and C&A is a client of mine. I was only giving my perspective based on my experience, which admittedly has nothing to do with Rugby League Sponsorship or administration. However, I can see I am hardly going to convince you so I can agree to disagree.
