The idiot certainly treads a fine line and tripped over it this time, Agree with the ref here....send off would be okay as well. My first reaction when I saw it live was that it looked very deliberate.

That’s just how he winds up in tackles. Literally watch any of his big hits over the years, it’s the same sort of style. Penalty, sure. Sin bin? Nah

Send off? Hell no

Inconsistent with his normal style? He literally made a tackle on lodge with the exact same tackle technique. Only difference is lodge wasn’t falling

How many tackles does the guy do a year? Unless you can show that he performs that kind of tackle on a consistent basis that it’s ingrained into his play style your point is moot.

He went for a big shot, it was careless. Right decision to send him. Live and die by the sword.

If Sims doesn’t slip and avoid contact it’s a great hit. We are discussing intention, and it’s quite clear his intention was to put on a big hit. Yeah league players are dumb but why the f**k would you intentionally want to hurt someone with your head? That’s a special kind of dumb

Him breaking his jaw is just as much his own fault as it is Napas. If you can’t accept that then I don’t think league is for you

Intention doesn't have to come into the discussion. Putting aside that I believe Napa knew he was going to make contact with his head (he turned his head just before impact to preserve himself) it was reckless and dangerous and made contact with the head. I'm actually thinking now the decision was incorrect. But it was the right outcome. He should have been sent off.

If Napa did this or he did that is all crap. In the end he lead with his head and contacted Sims jaw. It’s an illegal play and should be stamped out.

I have seen Napa do this on previous occasions but not with the force and high contact that this one involved.

Personally I feel it is lazy tackling technique on Napa’s behalf. He bends his body early with his head down and launches his body at the defence with his 5m wingspan hoping that at least some part of his shoulders or arms can wrap around the opponent. Anyone in rugby league circles knows that putting your head down too early to tackle can cause severe consequences (concussion, high shot) not only for the tackler but also the ball carrier. I think a sin bin and on report is right and a letter from the Nrl to Napa telling him to change his tackling technique. It’s a simple change for Napa and for the better. Sends a message to others as well.

The blues complained about Myles leading with the head, this needs to be the end of it. We need to be sensible about it.

It looked reckless to me. Its not a good look when you lead with your head like that, when you hit a shorter guy flush on the jaw with that head then its definitely careless.

As for Nappa's style, it seems his only technique is to launch himself at opposing players, he got this one wrong and paid a fair price imo.

He should have been binned the week before vs the Warriors.

Not only that - he head butted a Warriors player in a melee that was completely missed by officials.

So Sims has a broken jaw, I thought injury was supposed to play a part in the charges. I mean Cameron Smith got suspended because Proctor got injured. Curtis Scott got an extra week cause Walker got injured. Seems to be one rule for some and another rule for the rest

NRL is officially a joke

Napa NO CHARGE by the judiciary.......clearly leading with his head , whether unintentional connect with with Sim ' s jaw is irrelevant .....it is a reckless dangerous style which the NRL should drive out of the game. Sims broken jaw .......NO charge .

Sam Burgess coming off his line running into defence and lifts his elbow , which is more of a protection for his own head on anyone coming high at him. Definitely unintentional connection with throat ..............the same judiciary rubs out Sam for two weeks.

OFFICIALLY A JOKE , onya NRL

Should have been play on with the dummy half passing the ball into Sims while on the ground with a broken jaw for a legit Penalty, then we can use this in the promo footage to see how great our game has become.

Injury does get taken in to account but only if there was foul play that resulted in the injury which the MRP have deemed there wasn't.

So is it leading with your head that is the issue or the point of contact?

This is next level ignorance.

No it is logical.

I am just trying to ascertain if you lot believe leading with the head in and of itself is dangerous, thus illegal and should result in a penalty regardless of where contact is made e.g. a shoulder charge, in which case Opacic should have been penalised.

Leading with your head obviously.

Head clashes can happen, but when you put your head down like that and launch yourself at someone its at the very least careless.

Both! Napa lead with his head and what made his tackle different to nearly every other tackle is that he dropped his eyes/head to the ground a long way out which is just lazy and dangerous.

So leading with your head and dropping your eyes should always be penalised regardless of point of contact?

I think Hurrell got 3 weeks for a knee to the head of Tupou a few years back. I don't see how this is any different.
