great to see hindy is now getting the recognition that we know he deserves. amazing to think that at the beginning of this year people were doubting his ability at representative levels.

I totally agree 100%. Remember 01 and how devastating he was as an attacker. He had a much less workrate and hit the edges of the ruck.

He would kill it if he played like that off Gower who loves that sort of forward. Imagine Gower with the ball and a rampaging Hindy on one side and a charging Waterhouse on his other side.

The defence would crap themselves.

I agree.

Next year is the important year for SBW.

He's good - no doubt about it.

HOWEVER:

(1) He comes on after the likes of Price (not next year), O'Meley, Mason and Ryan have already set a strong platform

(2) TO MY KNOWLEDGE he hasn't withstood 80 minutess week in week out of NRL First Grade footy

(3) He didn't always play that well.

I reckon Sonny-Bunny is a 24 carat star footballer....he's proven more at the age of 19 than most current players going around.....he probably been NZs best player in the tri-series and NZ drew with Australia - the gap between Australia and everyone else is closing.

Yes I too believe Hindy to be the best 2nd rower in he world (altho maybe I can admit to some bias there).

But Sonny is simply an awesome player....if he came to parra I'd do more than shit myself with excitement  :?

yes sbw is good but i'm telling you if he pulled that tackle off on mcguire they would have carried on like it was the best tackle of the century (which it was)

As would I.

I'm not saying SBW is no good. All I am saying is that he has been over-hyped a tad, given the fact he hasn't really proven himself completely in my opinion.

And yes - Australia sucks now.

Australia doesn't suck - the rest are coming up to our level....they can sustain a whole game now as opposed to just 50-60mins

SBW has proven that he could be anything in rugby league....he played in a premiership winning team and has been oustanding at international representative level....he's a major talent.

So Parra are going to sign Gower and Waterhouse then????

Cheers Simon. Hindy pulled off a beauty in a 3 on 1, and it shouldn't have even been him covering back there - where was anyone else? Am glad Nathan has finally excelled at rep levels this year, and is reaping the attention and kudos.

Sonny Bill sure has a lot of talent too, but this was his rookie year and he now has to perform week in week out and regularly to stake his future claims. I saw GB shut SBW down in the second half at Huddersfield, and the kid got frustrated and lost his head. He has to grow up and be able to handle that, because he will be a marked man for sure next year by NRL defences.

I agree we haven't seen Sonny-Bill's best yet, but until he shows he can handle the on-field attention his talent will attract, then he's not yet in someone like Hindy's class.

Yeah SBW will have alot of attention come his way

I hate to say it - but Hindy has pretty much been shut down by opposition teams in attack....run at him all day and wear him down - then mob him when he gets the ball - he racks up a big tackle count, but he is then less effective in attack :(

Yeah, with Parra lately Hindy's really had to turn into a key defender, rather than be the attacking weapon we know he can be.

Hopefully having Morrison with him next year, and some props that can go forward might change that?

But gee that defence is good - GB would have sealed that game a lot earlier if it wasn't for Hindy.

Not sure about the best player in the game - if he and the Eels win the premiership on the back of some Hindy Magic than he could well be held in that regard.

2005 - IMO we have not yet seen the best of Nathan Hindmarsh. He is an undoubted freak however having had to do almost all the work for a season and a half we have unfortunately missed the long range tries and the smart off loads that first brought him to prominence. If the new buys can take the pressure off of Hindy in defence and he is allowed more freedom in attack to roam wide (memo to W. Bennett) rather than just hitting the ball up the guts we will see the emergence of the best attacking second rower IMO since one B. Clyde....

Youd think that would change next year with Morrison and Wagon helping him in defensive duties thus allowing him to unleash all the energy.

I believe it was reported that Smith wanted Hinmarsh and Morrison to play either side of the field. Instead roaming around the park as they both did for their respective clubs this year.

I don't know whther thats a good thing or not.

It sounds good except with our current forwards preforming  . I mean our hooker and two forwards will need to tackle their balls off because if it werent for Hindy a lot more points would have been scored against us this year.
