Just go high Benji...jump on the big blokes, jump on & hang on....a forward will be along very soon to assist.
Broncodroid said:As for the "weak forward pack"? I wouldn't call the 2004 Tigers pack weak, more underrated lacking the glamour of other NRL clubs. In 2004 you had Sattler, Skadalis, Galea, Senter, Graham, Mears, Payten with the emerging Gibbs, Laffranchi and Halatau...each to their own though I wouldn't undersell your pack to add weigh to your Benji argument.

We only had two forwards last year averaging over 100 metres and we were one of the lowest in offloads.
Galea struggled with injury until the later parts of the year and never really got into top gear.
Graham had a few poor games before being dropped to premier league, never to be seen again.
Payten missed the early part of the season with injury and never really recovered, and really went missing in some games.
Sattler really got pulled down by his injury towards the end of the year and lost alot of speed.
The rest of the forwards tried hard, but they really got outplayed in alot of games, particularly the last three against Brisbane, Newcastle and the Cowboys.

Or maybe get some old videos of Alfie and he can study his defensive technique.
Do you really need a video to learn how to trip?
thickos said:The problem is his fitness is crap. I was always a big supporter of his at Canberra but there were times when it was very hard to justify his inclusion in the team as he was simply a passenger. His weight bounces around a lot and it would seem he struggles for motivation.
When he's on song though he can win games for you... he has incredible ball skills for a prop. I remember he threw a three-man cut out pass in 2001 for a try to Vainikolo. Not many props can do that.
Interesting to see whether Sheens has enough patience with him - I think he will however as it was Sheens who blooded him as a 16 y.o. in 1996 - still the youngest Raider ever.

Benji Marshall, albeit still only 19, is fast becoming a player you grimace over each time he makes a play in the Tigers jersey given his small frame.
The youngster may have a "electrifying sidestep" though I would hope this is not all he will be known for over the next few seasons given the enormous amount of hope and time invested in the young kiwi.
Marshall is not likely to play another trial as reported, there is a chance he may miss the Round 1 opener...hardly an ideal lead up for Sheens and co. given we are still only talking about a NRL player with 11 first grade appearances to his credit.
Again, I do not doubt his talent, though admittedly he is a player that the media has built up to the point of falling into the "overrated" catergory as he has not really done anything to solidify his hype apart from a few choice side steps.
"The next Brad Fittler!"....hardly
No Surgery for Marshall

Doctors have confirmed Wests Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall will not have to undergo surgery on his injured right shoulder.
Steve Noyce, CEO of Wests Tigers, said “ the MRI scans have revealed pleasing news for the Club”.
Marshall injured the right shoulder in the trial win over Italy at Mollymook Oval last Saturday night.
"The injury doesn't require surgery and Benji will be working closely with our medical and rehabilitation staff to manage the situation,'' Noyce said. "We expect to see Benji back on the field in 6 to 8 weeks.''
Marshall was relieved to hear the pleasing results “It has been a frustrating wait, after being out for a large part of last season, but I’m positive with the help of the Rehabilitation Staff I will be back on the paddock in no time” said Marshall.

If the media is going to hype him up as "The next Brad Fittler..", tell me how the f*** is that Marshall's fault that the media is whoring him up so much?
Billybob said:I wonder if he ever regrets having the great Rah Hoo Hoo running at him and then him leading with his shoulder to stop the big guy
if he does make a successful come back, opposition teams would be stupid not running a few of the bigger guys at him he might be effected by the injuries and get tackle shy
but that is a job for sheens and co to work out with the young guy
