I have always disliked the Dogs but man I felt sorry for them during that game. Heaps of players out injured, the soul ripped out of their team by Greedy Bill Williams, players like Kite trying valiantly and nothing working for them. It was sad to watch.

Even harder to swallow being there. Folkes summed it up post-match... $2m is either in the stands or literally in the air.

How do you compete when you have so many players out and are relying on Toyota/NSW Cup players to fill jerseys?

Just FYI, missing from our playing roster are the following players who did or do have 2008 contracts:
Willie Mason (gone to Syd)
Brent Sherwin (released to ESL)
Sonny Bill Williams (gorn completely)

Then the injured:
Luke Patten
Matt Utai
Corey Hughes
Willie Tonga
Kane Cleal
Justin Tsoulos
Michael Sullivan

Then the demoted:
Ben Roberts
Lee Te Maari

12 first grade players who in October last year were on our playing roster... simply not on the field.

How can we compete?

I don't think you can compare the 2. If the netball had been played outside then how many people do you think would have turned up, it was inside & it was their grand final so they were always get a good crowd, but how do the crowds over the year compare? The dogs/dragons game was always going to be a 1-sided game outside in a crappy stadium hated by fans on a cold & rainy night so the crowd wasn't 2 bad considering.

So the Netball GF got 10,000 less than the Roosters v Manly club game the day before.

Big deal.

I feel sorry for Bobcat Ryan only.
He deserves better than this.
He's a good guy of RL in my books.

yeah honestly I'm surprised anyone turned up. there were a million bulldogs missing, it was a club game that was always going to be completely one-sided it was raining, it was at anz, and there were gale force wind warnings for last night.

as opposed to people watching a netball grand final inside.

it's hardly the sign of the nrl dying, it's just practical.

How sad that people take it as a negative when female sportstars are finally get some recognition they've deserved for a long, long time.
Good on them.

After the drama going on and the cold snap at the moment I seriously don't understand why you expected a big crowd.

Absolutely correct Shorty.

The girls in the inaugural Australia/NZ comp had a very well promoted successful competition.

It was wet, windy and miserable at ANZ and the Netball was played indoors plus it was their Grand Final.

The Netball could have got 30,000 and the ANZ game 2000 and it still wouldn't be cause for comparison..

That the media tried at the end of last week to make that comparison says more about the grubs in media than what really transpired....

The ABC should have broadcast it - I don't think they did :x I wouldn't be interested, but so many would

Good onya girls.

It was live on Fox. Heaps of live games this season. Easily the best women's sport by any measure.
