Oh man, I love Metallica but they haven't exactly been able to do great full albums in recent times & now they want to go for a double album?

Cut the Fat and make a great single album.

Green Day made that mistake trying to make a Triple album! There was actually a good set of 10-11 songs in there but over all it was average.

It's only 12 songs on the double so it's not really a true double.

Given the album is apparently 80 minutes long and the first released song is less than 4, there are going to be some long long songs on there...

Option to buy a version that has three discs too, lords of summer didn't make the actual album unfortunately so is on the third, not too sure what the rest on disc three are.

I liked DM. I even liked St. Anger. I maintain that if a young up and coming band did St. Anger it would have been well received.

There's nothing that Metallica have done that I have hated (didn't hear the collab album with Lou Reed,) but this is honestly the closest thing I've heard to their premier years (Lightning to Justice.)

They have audible bass, any song would be out of place on Justice

IMO too similar to Death magnetic. It is too clean and polished.
Clear as it may seem (again IMO) it needs the raw Metallica sound of Ride the Lightning or Kill Ém All to get this song better rather than a paint-by-numbers track making its money from reproducing Death Magnetic (which the fans bought only because it was better than Saint Anger)

St. Anger isn't that bad, I agree. Some chunky as hell riffs (in a good way). Take out the sound of Lars banging on a Milo tin and add a couple of Kirk solos and it would have improved it 5-fold.

Have they confirmed that this album will be it?

Dude if you're looking for that sound from them don't bother listening.

They don't have to sound like that to be good.

I don't know what to make of all that. It's like they were in awe of reed and just did whatever weird shit he wanted.

Perhaps it needs to be listened to more times to appreciate it.. It's too difficult to sit through to get to that point though

This song seems like a tease more so than a single. The production has certainly improved a lot. Great signs for the album.
