New recruits for 2023

Clint is a man that looks very smart and makes really good decisions. The players should be so happy to have a guy like Clint leading them. He always knows what's best for all parties. Was he the guy that dropped Jennifer Hawkins?

Valandy's is too busy looking into games in Vegas than the players and the game he wants to showcase. It will be good to see the teams run out with band aids over the NRL logo's in Vegas. I am so glad the NRL hate Saints because any smart business would send the most popular team in the world to a showcase event. Especially one that has won 11 premierships in a row (World sporting record) which the world knows about but the NRL like to forget about. It's good how Saints are not even in the conversation which is good. I hope they play the jet lagged sides early in the draw. They should send Melbourne, Dogs, Sharks and Eels who have all been caught cheating the cap over the years. The Storm can even show the US their 2007 and 2009 premiership success. Dogs can take their premiership when they were caught the year after. Together with the GF they won taking out the Tigers best player and the 7th tackle tries against Manly. The Sharks can show their one premiership they won in between the years they cheated and well the Eels can show their wooden spoon during their years of salary cap rorting. Poor Eels.

Danny Buderus dropped Hawkins didn’t he?

For you kids, he was a good player but another post career wipe out.

A budding young Albert.

Benji is another of the post career entitled.

I am sure others here are already getting bored with our rants. But l did want to point out one thing... its a shame that you read things here with such a closed mind... You straight away pigeon hole me as not having the ability to be able to listen or read information without questioning the facts and forming my own opinion - I guess unless of course it fits your thoughts. You seem to base those thoughts on my year of birth. I read what you said and thought at first it was informed... but not with respect to what Vlandys did for the game. We were AHEAD of every other sport world wide when getting back on the field. Most sports in Australia referenced what the NRL was doing. I wonder if just maybe those other sports may have followed us? Maybe EPL was close to getting on the field at the same time - l can't quiet remember that point and don't think you are important enough for me to research it. Ohhh I must be getting old.
Wow, this is a new extreme level of bootlicking that I didnt think was possible. So, Vlandys is not only single-handedly saved rugby league, but he's responsible for saving all other codes and sports too? Amazing. Occum's razor would suggest that perhaps NRL would have been just fine (like all the other sports) but hey, everyone loves a good hero story. Don't choke on that boot by the way.

I don’t want to snipe at fellow posters, but I agree that Vlandys is dispensable.

I remember he wanted to put the Commissioner of Police on the NRL Board or Judiciary or something and even the cops refused because of a conflict of interest.

I’ve never seen cops refuse the offer of any additional powers in my life except for this one!

Otherwise, as I’ve said, he’s busy exploiting the gambling dollar, oblivious to the social and personal harm it causes.

He’s done some good things with the horses, but once he dabbles in people, he has shortcomings.

He’s earning more than the players many times over.

The players requests are very reasonable in the scheme of things.

He doesn’t much vision except making money and increasing his power.

The game has an entitled attitude to its fans and members.

We are expected to make the financial and emotional sacrifices 24/7.

A lot of young people simply don’t follow it anymore.

And they are missing out.

To be honest I would let go of Moses Suli ahead of the Feagai brothers as from memory Saints offered Suli a lot of coin to join and he has been just as bad as those guys. That would free up more dollars than letting go of the Feagai's combined.
Yep, I agree Slip. Suli not so good I'm afraid to say. Just runs in one line in attack and can go missing in defence badly. We need a great attacking centre and a great defensive centre like we had in Gasnier and Cooper respectively. I must say that both Gasnier and Cooper were great in both attack and defence.

You compare Suli to guys like Bradman Best, Farnworth, Stags, Manu, Crichton, Cam Murray etc who have had similar amount of time in NRL and he is so far below them it is not funny. He is probably paid the same if not more than they are. Lomax is much more deadly than he is that is for sure. No club would be after Suli unfortunately and Saints will be stuck paying his if not most of his wages. Pretty sure he is on 600k a season.

I would have loved it if Saints got Wighton or Best as centre for next season when available as they would have been ideal. Has Best signed for the Knights yet? I like the Penrith dude Taruva. I think he can become a solid centre at Saints or at least take a wing spot. They have Taylan May coming back so he may see less time next season and could be tempted.

Taruva would be good. He's a FB too so gives us another option

I know that this isn't a recruit as such for us but the Roosters certainly know who to target and get the people they want whether it is a player or assistant coach. Justin Holbrook would be a good pick-up by them as an assistant to Trent Robinson. The Roosters don't stay down for too long - not great this year - so next year they will be top 4.

Good point. He’s hard to tackle but that’s about it. Doesn’t seem to have an offload and lacks genuine pace like most of our backs

Overs IMO
Way overs... another Tartak special!!! He got Bird 500K+, Addo Carr FB money, Luciano 750K at the Cows, Dom Young big buxx at the Rorters, Schuster 800k at Manly, Bud 500K to play reggies and - the holy grail - Thompson 800K at the doggies.

He has the most overpaid client list in the NRL - from a player perspective a genius, from a club // fan perspective a mercenary snake in the grass.

The guy clearly knows hypnosis or drugs management in the negotiation process - we'll no doubt get bent over for Amone when he comes off.

I must be the odd one out. I rate Suli, his biggest issue is his lateral movement in defence. I would like the club to work on his arobic fitness in the off season and if his defence does not improve playing centre i would like to see him play back row. How damaging would he be coming off the bench with his ball running.

Need a Bradman Best lomax to fullback next year sloan to wing .
Need a big centre that can break the line and score tries. Suili next year under flanno will come back fitter and better and will start the season with a smile 😃

While I respect everyone's views, how about players just play in their positions and we stop trying to shoehorn them in to places where they probably don't belong. If the club listens to us supporters, our back row next year will be Rava, Suli and Lomax, with Moga as the back up. Think about that. No wonder Bennett says "as a coach if you listen to supporters you will end up sitting with them". Good clubs realise if someone is not good enough they move them on and get a better player, they don't try them out in other positions.
