Hooper on NRL360 tonight was bagging the Dragon's of how long it took from time they sacked Hook to appointing Flanagan. Carayiannis stuck up for the club by saying they were blindsided by Ryles so not all the club's fault. Hooper came back with better run clubs like the Chooks would not be caught out like that. He obviously forgot the time they had Bennett signed sealed and delivered until someone opened their gob and Bennett backed out and came to us, but that obviously doesn't fit the narrative of continuously putting the Dragon's down.
Mate if you're watching NRL360 then you're not spending your time wisely. Look after yourself

Back on topic, apparently the Dolphins are set to sign Jake Averillo. Bit of a shame imo, not only would he likely get more first grade time with us, he'd probably play fullback

so what your saying is you expect a journalist to deal in facts, your old enough to know better than that
Sorry for my naivety, jak, but I have not read a tabloid newspaper for 50 years.

As you know there has been quite a debate over Flanagan's suitability as a Head Coach given what happened at the Sharks. To me, there is so much behaviour in and associated with the NRL that is totally lacking in any ethical standard, that now that Flanagan has done his time, we should all move on. A journalist making a statement that was quite false yet no other panel member challenging him on his "8 weeks" is just one example of anything goes in the NRL. If a journalist lacks a professional standard why have him on the show? What does he offer that is better than an NRL fan if he does not provide facts but assertions. I could add another "media personality", the Great (but oh so pompous) Gus Gould. He advises Ryles not to take on the Dragons' job then he warns the Dragons not to take on Flanagan. Jeez, you would almost think he is following another club's agenda!

Read somewhere by a telegraph scribe the Phins should sign Averillo , as they did with all Clubs and suggestions for particular players .
If its confirmed elsewhere i stand corrected
Handy player who had a 5 star effort against us , but has only been steady since
Not a lot of quality out there , but im sure SFs phone has been running hot since his appointment , both ways, re player recruitment

Like many on here I also rate Averillo you can’t beat speed. But we have a lot of money invested in both Suli & Lomax plus until Ramsey’s full status is known I’m not sure outside backs are our major area of need.

Think about it, Bennett brought Weyman, Smith & Costigan which made all the difference to our pack & brought us a Premiership. Obviously Darius helped out as well.

We desperately need to stack our forwards, that’s our main deficiency.

Flanno may have already started his recruitment for Saints a few months ago with the signing of the 2 Manly juniors and moving Woods from Saints to Manly. Or is it just coincidence? These 2 boys have size and by next year will be ready to rip in.

If Saints are serious about building the squad, they should throw the kitchen sink at Haas. He is the 1 man that will make a world of difference. He is the best prop and will be an Immortal in the future. Never seen anyone as good as this guy. If anyone can get him over to Saints it is Flanno. Jordan Riki is another gun at the Broncos.

If Saints signed Flanno ages ago, I have no doubt Sorensen would have been a Flanno signing.
It's just a shame he couldn't land anyone of note when he was our list manager but who knows, second time might be the charm.

Going from this report, Averillo will be at the Dolphins next year and maybe Kerr this year.

We can see how plenty are going but not any coming here so far. The best ones will be snapped up and we will end up with the usual dregs.

We need speedy players and we need a team much better in defence. These two ingredients will win us many games.

You may be right @Dragon David , but I wonder why on earth the dragons would release Kerr? Why assist an opposition team? I think the Dolphins would certainly need to offer a good sweetener for anything to happen.

If we do release Kerr, we can still hang onto him at the latest until round 22 after we have played Manly at WIN on Saturday 29th July in the 5.30pm game.
As long as we are out of spoon territory by then I would have no issue in moving him on early.
Just on new recruits, if the Rooster's cleanout includes Drew Hutchinson, I think he would be worth a look as he is a very versatile player who could fill the utility player void with Mbye not being retained.
Would suggest he would be a much cheaper option as well.

It’s giving contracts to “ cheaper options “ that has got our list in this current shape.

WE got options to use Ramsey’s money for a like for like player. Would Averillo count? Give us some speed on the wings
