I really like the album...it's more mature, which is to be expected, and more mellow which some might not like. My only real complaint is that the polished production really takes away some of the essential "Shihadness" of it all....tracks like One Will Hear the Other, Beautiful Machine, Bible and the Gun, and Count it Up that are really rocky and loud live sound a bit too mellow. But other than that I think it's a really good album and as I said, probably their best lyrically. My personal favourites are Beautiful Machine, Waiting Round for God, Bible and the Gun, and Rule the World...
I agree with your assessment, it is definitely more mature.
It's definitely one of their better albums - probably number 2 behind Killjoy IMO.
