The Warriors have some issues. Firstly, they are playing in small patches, the first 10 minutes, then went into their shell for 40, a small glimmer then played hard for the last 20..but even in the last 20 then didn't offer any of the good shape shown in the first 10...
Webby has a test here because the solutions aren't what has brought them success, he has to pull different levers.. like dropping players unfortunately. Berry has had some bad defensive reeds and Martin is a speed bump who offers not much in attack. Id put RTS at 6 and bring pompy back in. That will put at plug in the defence and some extra spark in attack. Also Egan is overworked and needs a spell, hopefully lusic is back soon and he can give him that middle period of the game a break which will give him that spark in his running game and more dominant tackles.

On the surface they look good on paper but they really miss Metcalf who takes pressure off Johnson, Niakora who takes pressure off Aden and Lusic to give Egan a break.
They look tiered.

Where does this put a NZ 2 if the Warriors can't turn it around??
Even further in front!
NZ 2 would provide a much needed alternative to relying on 1 club to engage a nation in the NRL! In the same way Brisbane relied on a successful Broncos, the introduction of another club reduces that risk!

This form slump of the Warriors highlights the need for NZ 2 .

CNK is a fantastic 1, actually one of the best in the comp. SJ isn't in good form but it's not bad, his main job is to kick well and defend which he's doing. SJ can do all the flashy stuff he does but those things only come about when the opportunity presents- if he's the only attack option, he can be shut down easily.
RTS can create opportunities and earlier ball will do that more often.
If RTS got the ball at first or second reciever , it will unsettle the defensive line and create opportunities.
Also, RTS has a great driving attitude.. he wants to make things happen, for a side that has a habit of going into their shell for big periods, it could keep them on their toes for 80 minutes.

I'd be experimenting with those changes at least until they get Metcalf back.

They’ve lost two games to teams they should’ve belted with cnk at one

Rts looks dangerous every time he touches the ball

Last year is gone

and yeh rts as another attacking option means less pressure on sj

the game rts played at fullback was proof he’s the best one the wahs have

I thought this year the wahs would struggle and might miss the eight

their form is actually a bit better than I expected but far off a top four team

Maybe you should have a look at CNK numbers

they will look good at centre too

line breaks and try assists are the crucial numbers

Webster is too soft to make the right call sticking to last years formula

PRECISELY.

At the moment, we have all our rugby league eggs in one basket (so to speak).

If the Warriors are doing well then the game as a whole is on the upswing, but if they're not then it filters through to the whole game here.

A 2nd NZ team spreads the risk - and hopefully most seasons one or the other (or both) is doing OK.

RTS has had a mixed bag with a couple of shockers thrown in there, that left edge attack isn’t functioning and RTS plays a bit too individually and the ball never goes past him.
CNK has been outstanding and fits into our systems well and on form doesn’t deserve to be dropped. Yes RTS is the better fullback but doesn’t have a great distribution game which is crucial to our game- he plays an individuals game.
Center isn’t working for him but there’s a big question mark where to put him- 6 maybe? But again he can’t set other players up and has no kicking game. Wing maybe? But probably wasted there although him and Pompey probably makes a better edge than what we are currently using

Unfortunately RTS reminds me of Wendell at the later part of his career, wouldn't run at holes..he wanted to ball first..then try something. Just standing at 6 on an opposite side to Johnson may present enough risk to free up Johnson and if he gets the ball, he can create something out of nothing. Being predictable is not RTS and sometimes that's the only way to break a line with sets close to the line. Also, he does have a passing game ( well he did before he left) it's still there, just have to find it.
RTS is trying to fit into the Warriors and not disrupt what they have...he can be much more.

Took Locker years to adapt from 1 to 6

I don't think they will make an expansion decision on "spreading the risk" though.

Especially if it's a small market location like Chch or Wellington.

If "spreading the risk" was the aim, you would go with Auckland 2.
