kinda feels like nz have lots of bids but nrl aren't 100% committed yet to anything there while same times perth technically have 0 bids now that cumins has rode off in to the sunset after zero dollars however nrl are pushing hard with their own initiative to get a team up and running there.

strange world but makes sense too.
That kind of sums it up actually.

why would they be 0 chance?

how are orcas strong favourites? none of their claims can be substantiated and they have reverted to porkie pies like mentioning jamaica and hawaii as hit areas. the main man behind the bid is a known bullshitter and another of their bid people in zorba peters is a creampie.

south island seems logical and thats my choice but whether the "business case" stands up who knows, we don't thats for sure. too much guessing here.

There's no bid from Auckland

Should change the name of the club then shouldn’t they to south Auckland

They should have development officers all around nz spotting the best kids and getting them under contract

You’re saying Aussie clubs which are thousands of km away can do a better job than the local club.

What’s that say ?

Orcas have said they will have academies all over nz with hundreds of kids in them

Why don’t the warriors have something similar

I was looking at wiki & team was just listed as warriors

For mine, the problem is that LU seems to think someone creating a twitter account and posting some AI art on it, is a "bid".

Did you read the article

It’s about another nrl team for Auckland playing at Eden park

The dope talks about the nz bid as if there is only one

"According to The Daily Telegraph, the NRL has rejected eight different expansion bids, including one from the Newtown Jets, two from Brisbane, one from Central Queensland, one from Fiji, and three from New Zealand's South Island."

That's latest details on official bids. There's no official bid from Auckland. Three bids from South island were Kea, orcas & another headed by Tony kidd.

That was clearly AI. But it suits his agenda so it’s gotta be true!
My agenda? Lol
Show me 1 post where I advocated for an Auckland team?
And I didn't even say it was real, I said it's unlikely entirely baseless.. maybe it is AI, that doesn't mean the idea to put AI to task on it came from nowhere.

I couldn't care less if it's real anyway but it has sure triggered you and your chums.
Chill out.

There were rumours months back about this consortium in Auckland, so I doubt it's baseless. I think the NRL will be interested if the organisation can move their intentions further south...
One thing is certain, the appetite for an NRL team in NZ is more abundant then all other locations combined.
Anyone who doesn’t thinks NZ are guaranteed another team in the 20 team mix are on drugs. It's 100 % happening.
There were rumours of an Auckland bid that didn’t go very far

Auckland should be the last place in nz an nrl team should be looking at. Even Hamilton should get one before Auckland 2

I doubt the NRL would be interested but there's the population point where Auckland dwarfs everywhere else in NZ.. That's the only part that makes sense.
A firm no from me.
A Southern Orcas Based in Christchurch creates the perfect South vs North rivalry , they'll pull everyone on the South island and being " Southern " and " Orcas "might pull the bottom half of the North Island too.. the anti jafa rivalry.

For me

South Island only
Then Wellington / Hamilton (north island excluding Auckland)

Can’t see nz supporting more than 3 nrl teams

Only chance Auckland has is if Vlad wants it and has told the Orca team to move their focus to there. But there has been no rumours that is the case. The article has no substance to it at all. Given the way Warriors arced up at the idea of a SI club the chances of them allowing a second Auckland club is slim to none Id say.

why would it need to be the orcas? nrl can just take it on themselves if they wanted to

If it's Auckland, then Christchurch, then a 2nd North Island team, it'll be interesting to see how they carve-up the North Island.

You could say Auckland vs Rest of the North Island - but there's also an argument for Hamilton/ Bay of Plenty to be part of the Warriors "catchment" based on their proximity to Auckland - and I guess you could have a game per season in Hamilton and/or Rotorua. That would allow the Wellington based team to take games to Palmerston North, New Plymouth or Napier & not have to bother with Hamilton, let alone the Bay of Plenty.

But that's just speculation.. and drifting right off the NZ 2 topic.
