Yeh don’t think you could name one either
ok lets play

Since the Storm entered the comp player registrations have gone from a couple of hundred to over 4.5 thousand, recently overtaking WA for the first time ever

Since Storm entered attendance at NRL games in Melbourne have gone from zero to over 20k, one of the highest crowd avg's in the NRL for a number of years

Since the Storm entered Melbourne NRL club membership has gone from zero to over 20k, now worth over $4mill a year.

Since the Storm entered Ch9 covg has gone from after midnight if you were lucky enough for them to bother showing it, to live in Melbourne

Since the Storm entered merch sales for NRL gear has gone from zero to millions of $'s

Since the Storm entered tv audiences for SOO and GF's in Melbourne have grown to over 300k

but yeh what have the Storm ever done for RL in Melbourne lol

There’s talk of a 3rd SEQ AFL team making the rounds, who would play out of the new 60k oval for the Brisbane Olympics. This could be the 20th afl team.

I think the NRL will be thinking very hard about where to put the 20th team. While NZ makes a lot of sense, it could be more important to put another team in Brisbane.

Putting a third team in Brisbane could really shut out the afl if they really start looming as a threat to SEQ.
Are they really the same audience? Is someone currently not following RL over AFL in Brisbane likely to decide to follow Rl as a Brisbane 3 club is in.
Likewise is someone in Brisbane likely to start following AFL as there is a second Brisbane club instead of a third Brisbane NRL club? Im not sure the cross over is that great (except for WB of course)

Sponsors and corporate sales you could mount an argument for

I’m asking how they have grown the sport overall

The increase in participants is minor and hasn’t produced regular nrl players

When you have places that can be added to the nrl which do increase the player pool we need to be very careful about clubs who dilute it heavily

Also

Do we want basketcases like the giants suns or brisbane lions ?

Minor? Its like 2000% player increase!

Again you are literally cherry picking one metric, 'how many NRl players does a club produce from kids born within 30km of its stadium'. Its a dumb arse position to take even for you.

And no we dont, we want clubs like yours.

Storm and wa will provide benefits over the longer term they haven’t yet / won’t for a long time

PNG
Dolphins
Brisbane 3
Nz2

Will provide instant benefits

It’a why I would’ve made Perth wait but it’s not my call

At least with the bears there will be some actual growth right away

only in your little befuddled mind! Everyone who matters can see the benefits Melbourne have brought to the NRl and are confident in the same benefits flowing from a Perth club.

Strangely its Christchurch they seem to be less confident in.

So 4000 more participants
5k extra people watching on tv
And no nrl players produced regularly

Is a sign of success ?? lol

like I said everyone is extremely happy with Melbourne that matters, and seemingly everyone that matters is super keen to bring Perth in.
Why we arent seeing the same enthusiasm for christchurch is what we should be discussing in a NZ2 thread!

Perths entry is only happening because of

A) bears
B) wa govt investing 120 million into juniors, 50 million for coe and a rebuild of the stadium

Perth Bears thread....

again lets talk about the seemingly lack of enthusiasm to get club 20 locked in. NZ2 bids not stacking up? or NRL one eye on somewhere else? Or NRL just not feeling any great urgency to make a call yet?
