Devcich might be the bolter to open with Guptill if McCullum no longer wants to open (I like him a lot, but there's a Shane Watson feel to him and batting positions)

If McCullum opens the batting, a slot at number 5 needs to be filled. I am not sure Latham has done enough to warrant that position. I would like to see Colin Munro or Grant Elliott given a go before the world cup. Munro is a good striker of the ball and has a good record in domestic cricket. Grant Elliott would provide another bowling option and he has developed his power hitting ability as of late.

I think we can officially call the tour a success. Series win. Williamson, Taylor and Henry outstanding.

Excellent result and year for NZ cricket.

Mills is an interesting one. His ODI stats in the past year actually aren't very impressive - but he has been so good for so long in that format it would be hard to turn our back on him.

A run rate of 5.64 on the first day of a test match. Some great batting and pathetic bowling.

The horribly slow over rate will probably save them from breaking 500 in a day.

Interesting day. Obviously McCullum... I mean, that was out of this world. Breaks his own NZ test record that he set a matter of weeks ago, and, he now has easily scored the most test sixes in one calendar year in the history of test cricket. First kiwi to 1000 test runs in a calendar year, scored a test century in one session even with Sri Lanka's disgraceful over rate (I hope someone cops a suspension for that, that was outrageous and borderline, well you know what), and was coasting it in until dismissed for the fastest test century by balls and time... not bad for the time, they were saying that Don Bradman has that record, and in that 6 hour day of test cricket they got through 124 overs, so it shows how amazing McCullum's hitting was.

Disappointments was the fact the top three four themselves out. Rutherford missed a half volley on off stump and got castled, Latham got caught at point turning his bat too quickly on a rank bad ball on leg stump, Taylor was run out by Williamson, and Williamson dead set missed a straight one on off stick. And BJ Watling not using DRS for what was blatantly obviously not out. Can't believe Mark Craig didn't let him know it was a deadset goober of a decision. Why save the 2 DRS's for the tail when it was palpably not out?

Becoming a good test team this unit.

Sri Lanka out for 138. Follow on forced.

Can someone make a Sri Lanka tour of NZ thread?

Great show from the bowlers today, this Black Caps team is surely coming close to #3 in the world if they keep this up.
