He's the attempt to replicate McCullum. Can see us moving on from him post-WC

Yeah I get that, but his ODI record with the bat is particularly bad, average of 24 without particularly blazing strike rates. Does well with T20 but somewhat lucky to get an extended run here.

Opportunity for him to produce something significant today, lets see.

Wonder what the plan for openers is post World Cup? Rutherford and Worker opening for NZ A recently. Worker has opened for us, but with limited success

"Slightly more patient, slightly more measured"

Good 50 from Munro. Now he needs to add another 50

Nobody better to be out there with Munro than Taylor. I really hope he's coaching him through this

100 up. 2 wickets down. 19.1 overs.

Good work by Munro and Taylor

wow- Chandimal just dropped an absolute sitter. Munro gets a life on 60. It was such a sitter, the bowler was virtually celebrating off the bat.

This is now Munro's HS in 3 years and his highest score against a team that is not Bangladesh

Munro runs himself out for 87- equalling his high score.

That was his call, but there was not a run in it.

Big innings here for Nicholls. As good as he has been in Test cricket, I don't think he's a lock at 5 by any means. He's competing with Latham for his spot IMO

Commentators really blaming Taylor for the run out. There was never a run there IMO and he clearly called 'no'. Munro got way ahead of himself.

Good 50 from Taylor

Taylor's ODI scores since Jan 2018

12, 45*, 52, 1, 59, 113, 10, 181*, 80, 86*, 54 for an average of 86.62

Now he has another 50

Considering Latham will be the WK for the World Cup & bat at 5, Nicholls isn't competing at all for this spot. He's merely keeping the seat warm.

Nicholls will be the reserve batsman for the World Cup. The fact he can also keep wickets works in his favour in a 15 man squad.

They played with Nicholls at 6 in the UAE. Obviously, there's a fair bir of competition there.

1. Guptill
2. Munro
3. KW
4. Taylor
5. Latham (wk)
6. Neesham
7. CDG

There is the top 7 for the World Cup.
Nicholls is the spare batter.

8. Santner
9. Southee
10. Ferguson
11. Boult

12. Henry
13. Sodhi
14. Bracewell / Milne/ Worker / maybe Corey Anderson.

15 Nicholls

I think that will be close to the World Cup squad.

Munro
Neesham
Nicholls

I think that'll be the squad.

Although I'd like to see Bracewell and Milne get a shot.
