What does everyone think would be the full strength line-up for Premier League this year?

Where do you think they will finish?

How do you think the other grades will go?

Who will be the key players in each side?

Here is a possible Premier League line up. I have based it on the Nrl squad having an 18-man squad that I have also listed for reference.

Tell me your thoughts.

Newcastle Knights:
1. David Seage
2. Nathan Hinton
3. Dustin Cooper
4. Brad Tighe
5. Trent Salkeld
6. Riley Brown
7. Dane Campbell
8. Daniel Tolar
9. Luke Quigley
10. Matt Kennedy
11. Kade Snowden
12. Todd Lowrie
13. Matt Thurston

14. Brendan Worth
15. Matthew White
16. Kurt Hancock
17. Chris Bailey

18. Jesse Royal
19. Luke Hession
20. Luke Grant
21. Blake Tremain-Cannon
22. Danny Vaughan

Nrl: Thiaday, Quinn, Gidley, Carmont, Carney, Gidley, Johns; Smith, Buderus, Woolnough, Newton, Simpson, Reynoldson; Perry, Davico, Abraham, Mullen, Tanner

Assuming that our first grade side is something like:
1: David Seage
2: Milton Thaidy
3: George Carmont
4: Matthew Gidley
5: Brian Carney
6: Kurt Gidly
7: Andrew Johns (c)
8: Craig Smith
9: Danny Buderus
10: Josh Perry
11: Steve Simpson
12: Clint Newton
13: Daniel Abraham

14: Luke Davico
15: Adam Woolnough
16: Kirk Reynoldson
17: Reegan Tanner

I'd go with this for our PL side.
1: Nathan Hinton
2: Trent Salkeld
3: Bradley Tighe
4: Riley Brown
5: Dustin Cooper
6: Jarrod Mullen
7: Dane Campbell
8: Daniel Tolar
9: Luke Quigley
10: Matt White
11: Kade Snowden
12: Todd Lowrie
13: Todd Maddison

14: Brendan Worth
15: Chris Bailey
16: Jesse Royal
17: Kurt Hancock

I wouldn't be surprised to see the more prominent members of our Flegg team appear as well. Guys like Nautusch and such.

I think you'll find we released Matt Kennedy

I'm pretty sure i read that Kennedy was still at the Knight in '06.

I believe that Todd Maddison has left the Knights and gone to Wests Newcastle. Matt Thurston is a very good lock signed from the Bears.

I think the Knights will go really well this year with so many players picking up a lot of experience last year.

I could have sworn we farewelled Kennedy last year. He was off contract and I can't imagine us re-signing him. I've heard good things about Thurston. If Maddison's gone I'd throw him in to #13 at a pinch.

Someone in the Newcastle forum (can't remember who) said Kennedy was still at the Knights and they had spotted him on a news report showing a training session with Davico. I guess they may have been wrong.

Here are a couple of photos of Thurston:

He is a Central Coast junior and has played for the Bears since 1999 and has been in PL i think since 2002. He was awarded Players Player in 2004. He can play 80 minutes and is a workhorse in defence and he can put players through holes in attack and can find a hole himself. He's not the biggest man but he is a big talker on the field. Hopefully he will get a crack at a few nrl games with the Knights.

That could of been me saying that.

I did see him training with Davico and Woolnough etc..

I thought he was as good as gone until I saw that aswell.

naa Kennedy is still here..training away with the boys.

Depth in premier and flegg are looking pritty damn good...hopefully we dont have to handle too many injuries...

I doubt they'll move Hinton from fullback either..their grooming him for that spot...they were putting seage in centres end of last year....its interesting wat they'll do.

its great to see the depth weve got next year
assuming firstgrde is
thaiday, carney, gidley, tighe, carmont, kidley, johns, perry, buderus, smith, newton, simpson, abraham, Res; Davico, woolnough, reynoldson, cooper (not what id pick but what i think it will be)
Premier league could be
1)Nathan Hinton
2)Salkeld/McManus
3)Seage
4)Hession(ive got a feeling about this kid not sure why lol)
5)Quinn
6)Mullen
7)Campbell
8)White
9)Quigley
10)Vaughan
11)Snowden
12)Tanner
13)Brown

Royal
Tolar
Lowrie
Bailey
Thurston
Grant

I like the look of the props, i know they probably wont be the two starting props but they make more impact then the likes of tolar, worth and kennedy and if there are any injuries to our firstgrade props these are the two along with royal that i would like to see getting the chances....but overall a good looking side no matter the starting side, good fullback with either hinton or seage, good backline with experience great halves great second rowers with experience and quigley at hooker, good year for fg and pl providing not many injuries

Agree with Chris - Seage is far too good to leave out of First Grade if he is fit (thats a big if granted). Carmont is far too bad to be in the NRL but he'll be there - he has the photos and all. *taps nose*

can anyone give me any information on this Vaughan kid - name? age etc

thanks
I'm really excited about Vaughan. He is a 21 year old prop who played for Maitland and Country last year.
He played about the last 5 or 6 games for the Knights PL side last season and improved every game till he was just about our best forward towards the end of the season.
He also stated he has never done serious weight training, etc - so the off season should make a huge difference to him.
He is a huge unit with great skills as well. Now that he has given up work as a concreter and is training fulltime i really think he will make an impact on firstgrade before the end of the season.

I hav very high expectations for all three of our grades this year. The experience gained by everyone last year will be invaluable. If we get a relatively injury free run, we could be looking at top four in all three grades :D

Premmy could look something like this for round one:

1. Nathan Hinton
2. James McManus
3. Blake Tremain Cannon
4. David Seage
5. Steve Gordon
6. Jarrod Mullen
7. Dane Campbell
8. Brendan Worth
9. Brendan Hunt
10. Kade Snowden
11. Matt Kennedy
12. Corey Patterson
13. Mitch Steele

I noticed today that Danny Vaughan played for Maitland in the local comp yesterday. I thought he was selected in the Premy squad to play the Raider
