Newcastle United, surely they're staying up?

Right?

When Fat Sam was finally sacked after some truly miserable performances, everyone on the Tyne was hailing the new revolution under 'King Kev', and how a top four finish next year was iminent.

But they sit only four points about the drop zone, with Bolton and Birmingham still having a game in hand. Their last win in the league was Saturday, 15 December 2007. They've lost 6 out of their last 7 in all competitions for a goal difference of 3-20. They are in serious strife.

With games against Birmingham, Fulham, Tottenham, Reading, Portsmouth, Sunderland, West Ham, Chelsea, Everton to come, I can only see a couple of wins there. Losses to Birmingham, Sunderland, or Reading would be worth double. I think its Championship football for the Barcodes next year.

Funnily enough, it will be the second time Joey Barton is going down this year! He deserves nothing less.

It would be pretty funny if "The Messiah" led them to relegation :)

it's only 3 points.

with a shocking goal difference.

they're in real trouble - especially if keegan continues to play smith and uses duff up front

They dont play until Monday night, Tuesday morning our time.

If results go against them before then, they could start that match in the bottom three

Big Sam is a mediocre manager.

Newcastle are absolute rubbish and the fact they think Kevin Keegan can help them means they deserve to be relegated.

The way they're defending at the moment they'll struggle to claim another point!

It would be interesting to see a side go down who wasn't one of those continually touted for the drop. I'm embarassed to admit that I expected big things from Newcastle this year, but they've been woeful for the most part.

I guess Mark's going to be on the move again at season's end.

I'm surprised how little game time he has seen - he's perfectly suited to the physical nature of the PL and had a great record at Boro.

Could be a bargain buy for one of the 'bottom half' teams next year.

Viduka scores a good goal to give them a great start...

Really can't see them going down given the lack of quality of many below them
